although smart girl that she is I'm certain she is aware of the contradiction she is throwing out ... we know she's vain because she said so circa SN

but life is like this we have to live with our private ambivalences ..

I think in the end though we all follow social norms, regardless if we don't agree with it.

I also think there's a big difference between retouching photos and plastic surgery. In one sense yes they're both conformity, the later has a lot more consequences though.

I personally don't agree on plastic surgery either (for similar reasons), even though I'm very insecure with myself -- and I definitely retouch my photos. Sometimes I even find myself considering plastic surgery too. I just don't see how it's the basis of thinking someone is in-genuine, aren't there worse hypocrites in the world?
