I saw Brokeback Mountain a couple of weeks back. I agree its a beautiful film. Its very sad though. Im not really an emotional person but i felt like crying, i felt really sorry for Heath Ledgers character, as well as Jake "SEX" Gynehall (think it spelt right  ) Wont say too much incase anyone hasnt seen it.

They just wanted to be together. It was so powerful that i came out as bisexual to my family after watching it

I could realte so much to the characters, i felt like i was watching my own life, only there was a much happier ending. :)

It's considered an existential comedy. So, if you've never delved into existentialism or you're not a big fan of philosophy....well, you might be out of the loop on this one. It's an hysterical film, I went out and bought the DVD.

'Capote' is worth seeing. Personally, I would be more interested in watching a movie about his relationships with people like Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor, than the two murderers. But he deserves that Oscar.

Not a film, as such; but I have to rave on a bit about seeing Barbra Striesand's show Color Me Barbra, a landmark color show broadcast on CBS-TV in 1966, and shown on our PBS station last night. Just a great piece of entertainment with her running about the Philadelphia Art Museum in a piece shot in the 36-hour period that it was closed on a weekend.

I forced my mate to go and see it just so I could have an undisturbed 90 minutes full on Alyson Hannigan viewing and oh my god I wasnt let down... even in the fat suit at the beginning she's still gorgeous!! Then when they pimp her ride... oh oh oh! I'm still trying to calm down from all the excitement!!

Watched the Garden State last night and really liked it - except the obviously-tacked-on-after-public-screenings happy ending. Great Frou Frou track at the end that i'd never heard before - might have to hear some more of their stuff - also an acoustic cover of Postal Service's "Such Great Heights" was sneaked in somewhere as well.

"Hostel".

Ignore the hype and think of it as a film of two halves:-

1) First part:

Boring, cliched, badly written, totally lacking in character shaping, dumb and a big assembled-by-numbers plot. Has some naughties in it but even that was as sexy as....well, it wasn't, ok.

2) Second part:

If you've seen Japanese horror gore by people like Takashi Miike then it's nothing worse than that. If you haven't then you'll find some of the torture scenes to be very horrific and quite distasteful.

An example, semi-obscured for those of a sensitive nature, is a young Asian woman having her eyeball cut out with a drill and a soldering iron such that her eyeball hangs out on it's optic nerve. This is then snipped with cutters by the hero to stop her pain. Also a guy having his achilles tendons sliced with a knife and then encouraged to try and run away. Not nice. There, you can come back now. Oh, and don't quote that bit as, I think, it loses to colouring and is unfair to those not wishing to read such things.

All in all it's not worth the hype, has not one iota of Tarantino flair even with a "Quentin Tarantino Presents" poster hook. If you like old-scool 70's splattery horror then you have 30mins at the end done poorly. The one slight twist at the end does nothing to redeem yet another v. poor American horror film.

{sigh}

Caught a review for 'V For Vendetta' on Radio 4s 'Front Row' the other night - not complimentary. Gist was that here is a film with the writers of 'The Matrix' (brilliant visuals, load-of-b*ll*ks storyline) teamed up with the director of Charlies Angels (James McTeigue) making a flat looking, pretentious mess. Various other reviews haven't been too hot either. A pity as I was quite looking forward to it.

Just checked that out and saw:-

The Wachowskis have made the story more cohesive by smoothing out some of the details and clarifying some of the more abstract themes, while also punching up the dialogue with more heart and humor.

That's exactly why Moore hates them - he engineers a tone, style and pace to fit the story he wants to tell and film makers go "Ah, let's change it and have more or less of x, y or z".

Maybe the point is NOT to have the humour or to leave abstract idea to challenge the reader.

Yeah! The Americans put in more black humour and gore but took away the drama and atmosphere of horror and shock.

I mean there are plenty of Zombie genre films made every year (with the same old plot ... it's the set pieces the fans like. How many different ways to hkill a zombie, etcc) but they play to specific audiences. At least Danny Boyle's film was catering to a wider audience and 'intelligent' horror fans.

It's funny as the new 'Dawn of the Dead' remake suddenly had the 'fast & furious' zombies in it ...mmm wonder where he got that idea? I mean, even Shaun of the Dead takes the piss of useless zombies!

i was watching the making of pink panther, it is so funny the old movies this one look the same too, but i dont like the first role of the actor, the second is better knowing that he is more natural, i did not see it yet but i am sure that inspector clouseau will face many funny problems like in the old movie when his boss wanted all his glory for himself the same like the old movies , and the expectations of the people who got robbed to get their possessions, so many funny problems
i love this movie :D :D

A DVD I've seen lately is a collection of CBS News footage of Apollo moon shots. The 60's animation was kind of quaint; but the Saturn V launches are still a thing to behold. The most awesome display of human made power this side of an atomic bomb.

"Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" just finished about, er, now.

Very enjoyable - funny, clever, inventive, corny, sexy and Val Kilmer does 'gay' stupidly well. I'm sure there's a more elegant way of commenting on his character but I'm just off to bed and the brain has started that process early.

Go rent/buy/borrow the film - it's very good. Tell them Carpy recommended it.

I saw that last week and indeed, it is bloody marvellous! very funny.

Kung Fu Hustle - Brilliant film, very funny, very action packed, excellent Martial Arts.

Bewitched - watched/fell asleep through, not very good at all, is it just me or is Will Ferrell not that funny as a lead? Liked him in Anchorman though. (Ooh yeah and watch out for Nicole Kidman's RED hands, she's got really bad circulation problems)

Land Of The Dead - Ok, but not as good as Dawn Of The Dead (or "Amanecer De Los Muertos" as I saw it) and no where near as good as Shaun Of The Dead!

Cursed - hmmmm not sure about this one really, first half.....eh..ok, last half quite funny in places, (The Werewolf giving the finger) not a well thought out story at all!

House Of Wax - Actually quite good, I was not looking forward to watching it after what people had said about it (But then that always seems to make the film better for some reason, probably because your hopes arent up) and I must say I was quite Impressed by Paris Hilton, Ok she's not gonna win any awards for it, but I think she did a pretty good job with the role, and I've seen that role played a lot worse. But Elisha Cuthbert was my star! :D

Without A Paddle - Very Funny Film, Seth Green always good, C-3PO impression's to boot. (And look out for Randy, Earl's brother, playing......well....basically the same role he does in "My Name Is Earl")

Awwww I really wanna watch Saw II, I'm waiting for someone to buy it on DVD so I can steal and watch... I'm still freaked out about the first one! My mate Jo said to me...'cover your eyes when the bit comes up about the eyes...you'll sit there thinking 'no they seriously cant have that happen in the film' but then, oh oh... it happens!' and now I'm dead curious cuz I want to knoowwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!

Maybe I should stop being cheap and just buy it, but Im weird in the fact...if I have a scary film in my house I think the films more real, and having the DVD lurking on my shelf will just scare me even more!

I watched Virgin Suicides at the weekend, ooh and then I watched Bound on Monday, Such a lesbian cult film. One lezzog I was talking to said she couldnt believe I hadnt seen it and it was on amazon for less than a fiver so I bought it to watch... I dunno what the lezzers are on about, it was a good film but the lesbian relationship in it was rubbish!! They go on about the 'bed scene' and how it'll get me ready to pounce on the next girl I see! I though said scene was boring and they hardly showed anything anyway!! Stupid lezzogs getting excited over nothing!

God I mentioned lesbians a lot in that last paragraph!

That film's so sexy! The bit where Javier Bardem and the other guy are bullfighting naked? .......Great film noir though and Jenniffer Tilly is bloomin' marvellous in it.

Once you get past the obvious plot points that everybody talks about you do realise that it's not a bad little film at all and there's plenty of twists to keep you watching.

As for the Tilly, she's really good. I'm coming to enjoy her stuff more and more. Take the latest Chuckie film for example - she's really funny in that and you get the feeling she doesn't take herself too seriously. She plays her part on this excellently and is a nice twist from the usual gangsters moll.

I was surprised cuz based on the fact that the entire lezzog community bum this film I thought it was gonna be crap (We're reknowned for our bad taste) but I was really pleasantly surprised. Attention all lovers of politically-incorrect English films from the 70s.

"On The Buses- The Movie" is just starting on ITV1.

Greenwell - you`ll miss it :( :( - make a bespoke satellite dish out of a "trashcan" lid and join in the `laughs`!!!!

I saw a clip of them praticing wet road driving. The sight of a double-decker bus doing a sideways skid is somthing to behold.

The Broken Hearts Club... I watched it only for Justin (http://www.goldfrapp.co.uk/msgboard/showpost.php?p=168889&postcount=903) Theroux (http://www.goldfrapp.co.uk/msgboard/showpost.php?p=168892&postcount=904) (and he doesn't even have such a big part in it :().. I hate gay movies that say "we're going to sweep away all gay stereotypes, this is REAL life" and it turns out it's just as annoyingly poofy as you knew it would be... Seriously, how many awfully bad gay and lesbian movies have been released for the past... 10 years?

Funny to see some "famous" actors though. the guy from "Garden State", 2 guys from the 1st series of "Sex & the City", Superman from "Lois & Clark" (notice the quotation marks around famous)

Some people could also be annoyed by none of the actors being gay...

Yes! There was a movie (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Are_You_Being_Served%3F_(film))...the boyfriend says that it fits-in between season(s) two and three (somewhere in there, at least). Mrs Slocombe does go on about her pussy. :P

I think that it's great but not many people seem to like it. :(

I saw 'Thank You For Smoking' today. It was humourous, at least for an American like myself ! I was going to read the book first, but I cheated. I hate being forced to read something. ( God, that sounds so petty reading over it again ) I saw some previews for some movies I'd really love to see... Hard Candy and Kinky Boots. I also want to see the Bettie Page movie, it looks cute.

Resident Evil Apocalypse......well it's better than the first film......but that wouldn't have been hard anyway, I didn't like the idea the way they used the Nemesis, I think they really screwed that character up, but I did like the ending, kind of, on the whole, it's not a great film, but it's watchable, just leave your brain in the fridge till it's over!

Meet The Fockers - Not as good as Meet The Parents but still ok, kinda funny in places........but very predictable as most comedy films are anyway!

Constantine - I was not looking forward to watching this as it got really bad reviews, (And Keanu Reeves is in it) but It's actually quite a good film (I know a lot of people didn't like it as they were fans of the Comic, but I wasn't so maybe thats why I liked it) plus it's got one of my fave actors in it (At the end anyway) Peter Stormare, good film!

Wedding Crashers Uncorked - I nearly turned it off near the start after the over long music part which I've blocked from my memory, but glad I stayed with it, As Isla Fisher is brilliant in it, she's mental (Which I like) oh yeah the film er the basic comedy but at least it's funny!

I went to see Hostel last night. Can't exactly say I enjoyed it as its not that sort of film (if I'd enjoyed it i think I'd have to worry!! ) Definately would reccomend you go see it if you can. Very, very graphic though and not one you could watch more than once. Oh yeah, and try not to be eating anything while you're watching it!! lol

In my hungover state at rachels house on friday morning we watched the descent and house of wax.

Both were NOT scary at all! Well the descent was... until those dudes started screaming and killing... what was that about...stupid wannabe gollums! Pant bags!! House of wax was REAaaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAlly slow to begin with and then it was just funny. though paris was alright but she didnt exactly have a challenging role. Like how they made her run around in her underwear... Im sure she's used to that!

I did sit down and start watching the original italian job last night (seen it a million times) but my hangover from sat night/sun morning was too much so I couldnt focus on the screen!

Not bad. Bill Murray was a bit more animated than he has been in some of his more recent films.

Rushmore.

Not bad. Bill Murray was a bit more animated than he has been in some of his more recent films.

I saw something where Adam Buxton (as Ken Korda) was taking the piss out of Bill Murray's 'nearly acting'. Here's Bill Murray 'nearly having an emotional breakdown', 'here's Bill Murray nearly happy', 'here's Bill Murray nearly being annoyed.' It was really funny.

Derek and Clive Get The Horn.

Inspired from by a clip being shwon on the 'Banned Britain' thing last night. Peter Cook can make me cry laughing at times.

Clive: I tell you something. That, that religious singing reminded me of something. Did you, did you see that, er, TV coverage of the, er, Pope when he was lying in state? The, the last Pope, you know, John Paul.
Derek: Yeah.
Clive: Lying in state, on that catafalque? In those robes... It didn't half give me the horn, that.
