View Full Version : whats the last film you watched?
I actually prefer the sequel, and now i've lost my credibility.
You've lost alot more than your credibility right there buddy, just leave quietly.
It had a better soundtrack then the first film at least
It's hard to defend one pretty poor horror movie against a pretty crappy horror movie
I prefer faster zombies. :D
There has to be more isolation movies that don't suck!
Will check out Creep.
It's hard to defend one pretty poor horror movie against a pretty crappy horror movie
I can't believe you're backing that sequel as a legitimate horror movie. But different strokes... and all that.
The only fast zombie thing I really liked was 28 Days Later.
28 Days Later would have been so much better with the alternate storyboard ending they have on the DVD.
Yeah definitely, much darker. Suits it much more.
As much as I didn't agree with 28 Weeks Later. Robert Carlyle played quite the infected person.

Creep was such a terrible movie, I liked Event Horizon though. It wasn't scary but it was a good idea.
I prefer horrors that are sort of ghostly, something that you can't really see or stop. I loved Blair Witch and the remake of The Grudge had some pretty good creepy parts.
Also am I the only person who thinks slow zombies are way better and creepier than fast, running and snarling ones?
Slow zombies are the best...but 28 days/weeks are not zombies...they are infected...which explains why they can move quickly...unlike that Land Of The Dead...:(
it should be more random...only a few that are able to run properly...it's meant to add to the tension in a film...but it really never works...
28 Days Later was a tonne of bollocks...it started off good but went downhill as soon as that woman takes over...and Mr Ecclescakes and his gang appear...
28 Weeks Later was the better of the two for me...more of a zombie style film plus the chopper scene :D
as for Creep, it's pretty good up until a point...Franke Potente :D (anyone else notice the overuse of the colour yellow in the film...) and Event Horizon is a great film...though probably hasn't aged well...
If anyone of you have any movies to recommend, that are like The Thing, Leviathan, The Abyss, Event Horizon, Alien or Sphere, please tell me. I'm on a hunt for these "people-isolated-somewhere-with-a-horror-lurking"-movies! :D
for a good ol people trapped somewhere type film try Wrong Turn, The Descent, The Ruins (which is surprisingly good considering the shit reviews it got) I haven't got my old film cap on at the moment...you could always try a none horror film...like Deliverance...
plus you've mentioned the best ones...
not really a trapped style of film, but I've just thought of it, They Live, used to love that film. :D

no you haven't...the first film was way too over hyped, I liked the style, but never really loved it, I thought the storyline of the second film was much better...plus there are some great hidden visuals in it.
the only really good thing about the first film was that there are some great moments in it...but they are very few and far between. (The Last Broadcast is a great low budget film that came out before Blair Witch...kind of the same type of story but more of a documentary feel to it...probably would have been a lot better if it had a little more cash)

See I never used to like zombie movies, as I never really found them scary. The Zombies were slow, and dumb, and easy to outrun. It wasnt until I happened to catch the beginning of 28 days later on tv and sat down to watch it, and loved it. The zombies are fast, and vicious and terrifying. The way they should be. IMO.
I loved it there was a madness to them, an undying need for flesh, and I really like the way it was done, as it made it scary and compelling.
Still haven't watched the first one yet. But I was definitely impressed!!
I think I don't mind the fast running zombie idea in 28 Days Later because they aren't actually passing them off as zombies. I do love the film however, the sequel was just too americanized for my likin'. Had some good stuff all the same.

they are not zombies though...they are infected...a primal urge to beat the living hell out of anything in the way...
the old zombie films with the slow zombies had a more eerie feeling, yeah they are slow...but there's fucking millions of them...and they don't stop coming at you...plus...they make barely any noise, so can sneak up on you (of course they are probably unaware that they are anywhere near you)
I'm confused though...which one did you watch...you said 28 Days Later...but then said you haven't seen the first one yet...
did it have Robert Carlyle in it? (that's the 2nd one 28 Weeks Later) starts off in a house...then has him running for his life...then shows that the American troops have the area under control...does that sound like the one you watched?
I think the best new style Zombie film is the Dawn Of The Dead remake, as it has a great blend of old slow Zombies with a few faster ones...and it was a great film too.

I actually didn't mind the remake of Dawn of the Dead. It wasn't half bad. My favourite Zombie movies ever are the original Dawn of the Dead ( despite the blue faces) and the 1991 Tom Savini remake of Night of the Living Dead

And yes I like the idea of the 'infected' I like the delusional madness of it.
Although I dont think it would be a good thing for me to be scared of Zombies, in the sense you mention, as an Anatomy student, I would be looking at the Cadavers thinking looking at them wondering if they are actually looking at me, and thinking about how juicy my brains are lol.

Stupid Cadaver Zombies arent going to eat my juicy brains.
Although Zombies and their love for brains makes me laugh thinking about an article I read about flash mobs, who gather together to protest/picket about random things for a laugh.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zombie_walk
Promoted primarily through word of mouth and online message boards, zombie walks are an underground activity. During the event participants are encouraged to remain in character as zombies and to communicate only in a manner consistent with zombie behavior. This may include grunting, groaning and slurred, moaning calls for 'brains'.
An advanced technique to heighten interest and realism, some zombie mobs will "eat" victims to create new zombies, in sight of onlookers. [1] The better coordinated zombie mobs will establish a route and an easily recognizable signal, so that other participants can plant themselves, appearing as an otherwise ordinary human, along the route in old, tearable clothes, and as the mob shambles along it can discover and devour new victims. As the zombies surround the new victim to loudly feed, concealing him or her from witnesses' view, they tear clothes and quickly apply greenish makeup and fake blood, to create a new zombie, who then shambles along with the ever-expanding pack to find new victim
What do we want?
Brains!
When do we want it?
Brains!!

Corvina...how dare you mention that film...***shudders***
anyway...from one shit film to another:
Max Payne
********SPOILER WARNING********
I cannot believe, even after all the people saying how bad it was, how BAD it was...
there were a few bits where I thought ooh...that's quite good...only to be let down a few seconds later...like the idea of the "Valkyr" drug making them see Valkyrie's, only...it wasn't clear in which way they were seeing them...was it because of the drug...or because of a lack of the drug? (obviously it seems that it's the drug that causes it as when Payne takes it, it instantly causes him to see them...I thought it would have been better, if it had been that the drug was wearing off and making them crave more...but...I guess they couldn't have done that last bit...;)) which was actually one of the better parts of the film...it explains why he could take on so many guards...which...is weird, as there didn't seem to be as many as there should have been...
also, most of the acting was terrible...I was surprised by how bad it was in the first half an hour of the film...but was amazed by how good Ludacris was (and he's not an actor)
but the main reason why this film was so bad, is the fact that they chagned the story...Max Payne was there when his family died, in the film...he got there to late...plus this is shown halfway through the film...when it should have been at the start...with all that shit with him working as a file clerk...what the fuck?
and I love Mila Kunis, she's gorgeous...but...she's not Mona Sax...she's looks nothing like her, and doesn't have the same attributes as her...not sure why she was cast in the role...and as for Mark Wahlberg, I think he could have been good...but...something just wasn't right at all...then we come to Sucre ;) (or Lupino as he's known in this) (ok...I mean Amaury Nolasco (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1004774/)) what the fuck was that all about? why was he using a sword...? why was he always on top of a buidling? why was he there for the guy who fell (dragged) out of the window? all just to nonsensical bullshit...
it really annoys me...did anyone on set even bother to play either game? or did they just have someone tell them what it was about?
avoid it...
of and just in case you have seen it but didn't stick around till the end of the credits...it looks like they are making Max Payne 2 :(

I think you mean Ki Ki Ki Ma Ma Ma
"Manfredini was inspired to recreate a similar sound. He came up with the sound "ki ki ki, ma ma ma" from the final reel when Mrs. Voorhees arrives and is reciting "Kill her mommy!" The "ki" comes from "kill", and the "ma" from "mommy". To achieve the unique sound he wanted for the film, Manfredini spoke the two words "harshly, distinctly and rhythmically into a microphone" and ran them into an echo reverberation (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reverberation) machine."

I love girly movies. In fact, I mostly watch either girly movies or movies that are at least 50 years old.:) :)
And I rarely go to the cinema at all. That's partly because they don't often seem to show the films I want to see, and partly because the cinema seems so expensive. A girly film from Amazon usually sets me back about £9, and old film about £5. I just bought 9 film noir movies for £14.98, which works out to about £1.66 per film. The cinema can't compete with that.

I almost forgot about this. When I saw Coraline a couple of weeks ago there was a trailer for the new Tim Burton film called 9. It looks amazingly surreal, creepy and brilliant....again with stop motion animation. AND AND AND it opened with music from The Knife, so you know it *must* be good ;)
I've got this bookmarked too - you have good taste! :D ;) There's a great 720p HD trailer (http://www.apple.com/trailers/focus_features/9/) on Apples site.
There was an award winning short film called "9" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/9_%28film%29) that is being reworked into a full-length by Burton (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/9_%282008_film%29).
The whole original one can be watched on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DE4qHy0RruA&fmt=18) - see what you think !

So I was wondering: did you like it? :)
Just went to see it yesterday, change of original plans:rolleyes: Anyway, great film, really enjoyed it. "Did I tell you I've been struck by lightening seven times?!":D
While I'm on the subject here does anyone know why cinemas have reverted back to allocated seating? What was the problem with general admission, sitting where the hell you wanted?!

none of the cinemas have gone back to that here, (Birmingham) as far as I am aware, are you sure it's not just for fully booked showings...as the tickets don't actually have seat numbers anymore...maybe they just wanted to move people along to get more people in (I've seen that happen) unless your cinema has completely changed back to that system...which doesn't sound logical, and I hope that it's just a one off, I'd hate to see the old allocated seating system come back...though I would like to see the doors being closed and no one being let in when the film starts...;)

It would have made a lot of sense, but Gainsborough Films don't seem to have thought of it.
The Giansborough studios in Islington are now flats (and a few shops). There's a big statue of a head there that looks like Buddah. I think they should have made it of either Will Hay or the Gainsborough lady (the lady who appears briefly at the beginning of each Gainsborough film).

Seriously, why do people say George Romero makes the best Zombie-movies?
His movies are full of stupid characters and the zombies in his movies are too human. The zombies in NotLD can use tools and have intelligence? I know he is progressively making his zombies smarter and more human-like in his "Dead"-series, but it's ridiculous and I never liked that idea. In NotLD a zombie repeatedly stabs a woman to death with a gardening tool - like wtf? Why would a zombie stab a woman to death and not just stab her once or twice but like 20 times? They're supposed to be mindless cannibals with only one thing on their mind - EAT FLESH and brains!
Also, the characters in this movie are just dumb fucks. I think Romero has to make his characters dumb as hell in order for him to score a couple of human kills because anyone could avoid these slow zombies. The characters just don't respond the way they would do in a real situation - they don't run away. They wait for the zombies to get close and then they pretend like they're any danger. For instance, near the end of the movie, a woman stands in a doorway blocked with planks and stuff and these zombie hands grab her - but just barely - and she just stands there and tries to look like she's in any sort of danger when she isn't. She could just have taken a sharp step forward and she'd be out of danger.
The same goes for the original Dawn of the Dead - they have to play stupid and make dumbass decisions or else Romero wouldn't make any human die. His zombies aren't threatening at all and they are just annoying when they're so human-like like in Land of the Dead which would have been a great movie had the zombies not had intelligence.
Thank god for the Dawn of the Dead remake and the first Resident Evil movie. In fact, I think any zombie-movie has better zombies than Romero and yet he's ranked the King of Zombie movies... My ass!

Resident Evil was an awful film, let alone a terrible Zombie film, and people think that George A Romero made the best zombie films, because he did, I agree it was not a good idea to give zombie's intelligence...but it was worth a try. and those zombies are meant to have been around for a long time (unlike the normal zombie films where they've just been reanimated...usually spanning a few days) whereas, from what I remember in Land Of The Dead, aren't they meant to have been "alive" for months or years...
plus why would a normal person stab anyone more than once? the fact that a zombie is more feral than human would make it more likely for that to happen...why would a zombie be using a knife...no idea...
and I love the Dawn Of The Dead remake, probably one of the best zombie films there is.

He didn't do the best zombie films in my opinion. His zombies are too human. I know that they have been around for days, weeks or months but that's no excuse to make them human, it should only make them WORSE cause they should be starving for brains and flesh. Land Of The Dead is ridiculous - Zombies using guns, screaming and the humans show sympathy toward them in the end? What the hell. I thought I was watching a... ZOMBIE movie!!
plus why would a normal person stab anyone more than once? the fact that a zombie is more feral than human would make it more likely for that to happen...why would a zombie be using a knife...no idea...
The question is why would a zombie use, or be able to use, any kind of tool? For me, it ruins the experience. I want to see zombies à la Dawn Of The Dead 2004 and 28 Weeks Later (okay, they were zombies in Weeks but close enough).
and I love the Dawn Of The Dead remake, probably one of the best zombie films there is.

I agree with all of that. His films are really disappointing. It's all very well to say "Oh yes, Night Of The Living Dead was ground-breaking" but it's a lie, the ground had been broken in the 1950s and he did a low-budget homage trying to pass off crap special effects as "comic-book". You can see the set pieces coming a mile off, any story is utterly submerged in empty dialogue and Romero does absolutely nothing to try and stop his film dissolving in its own faeces. Moustapha Akkad - now THERE'S a man who knows how to make a horror film.

the problem with that statement is that zombies were human one stage...so...like what they tried to do in that film (and as I said, failed to pull off) was show that they were able to gain back some intelligence, you have to give them credit for trying it, as it could have worked, unfortunately the way they did it, it didn't...
and you liked Resident Evil: Abomination...I mean Extinction (easy mistake to make ;)) youch...I really don't know what to say...at least Apocalypse had the Nemesis in it...still an awful film...though...a trilogy which I watched in the hope that they would get better...how wrong I was :(

Calm down Maddy, just caaaaalm down. Let me break it down a bit, and you can see if I have a point or not.
1. Up until that point, there had never been a film like "Halloween" and there hasn't really been one since. Admittedly, he borrowed quite a bit from Hitchcock, but the way shots are set up and the way the street seems to yawn at you from the screen and swallow you up, is his own. They all copied it in the 1980s, but he did it first.
2. There's virtually no dialogue. At first I thought this might have had something to do with only having about 8 pence to spend on the whole film, but it was a creative decision, and it really works. (although Tobe Hooper probably thought of it first) Because your ears haven't got much to do for so much of the film, your brain starts to work harder without you noticing.
3. I'm not sure about this, but I THINK he was the first person to set the entire ending of the film up ready for a sequel. "Jaws" was easy, there's more than one shark in the sea - but making sure there could be a sequel was a 1980s thing for businessmen and heads of franchises, and even if he didn't realise he was doing it (he could just have been trying to leave the viewer with some ambiguity, the way Hitchcock did) it started a tidal wave of horror films with numerous sequels. It's a shame that Halloween 2,4 &5 were made really, they're all inferior (I never count Halloween 3 as a film in the series, it's completely different to all the others which is weird in itself) although Halloween H20 was extremely good - they should have left it at the two films, Jamie Lee young and Jamie Lee grown up.
Any thoughts?

ok, I'll give you Michael Myers, a great horror character, in some ways...but wasn't it John Carpenter who directed Halloween? ;)

but wasn't it John Carpenter who directed Halloween? ;)
Yes, but Carpenter's films are heavily reliant on his producers - he's rather lazy in the director's chair. He was very enthusiastic about "Halloween" but it's got Akkad all over it really. You should see his films about Islam he made in the 1970s, they're like a cinematic fingerprint for the Halloween films. Poor Moustapha, blown up with his daughter by a bunch of lunatics. He did more for positive Western perception of Islam than anyone else in the world, and he ended up being killed by the people he despised. :(
Next, in the long list of Things That Should Never Have Been Done Ever, the remake of "Psycho" with Viggo Mortensen and that guy from "Dodge Ball". I don't care whose idea it was, they should be nailed to a dustbin and rolled down a big hill.

I loved Halloween, every sequel that followed turned my stomach with it's shitness. He does some good scoring even if they are quite cheesy, I still listen to Assault on Precinct 13 every no and again and the theme for Halloween was just plain creepy.
I'm a bit biased toward the score for "The Fog". Not like that. :D

ok, never read the comic, knew nothing about the story only a few of the names of some characters.
so I'll start with, it is well worth seeing, very good indeed...that said...there are certain bits that feel rushed or not properly thought out (mostly the Nixon scenes...they should have all been cut out...maybe just a voice over instead...mainly due to the actor playing him...and that fecking awful fake nose...why did they bother with that?
plus, as I think many will agree Rorschach is the best character by far...great scenes in the prison :D) most of the other characters are great too.
one thing to keep in mind, (even though it didn't really feel like it) it is a long film, so make sure you've taken care of natures call before going in ;)
and...another note...I'm not sure if anyone will agree about this...(plus I don't know if it's the same as the comic) but...the ending seemed very rushed...and didn't quite work...everything leading up to it was great...but it just felt like a bit of a let down...(the ending)
anyway...go see it

I've had my eye on that box set for ages now. I always seem to miss the sales, and it's usually upwards of £70
Have you seen "Sailor Beware!"? That is the funniest thing I have ever seen. Peggy Mount is just brilliant in it, she's the avatar of all comedic women.
Keep it in your amazon basket they tell you when the price goes up or down. Waiting for a good price on the Hammer and Hitchcock collections. These are my Thursday night viewing when I work away from home. Thanks for the tip Sailor Beware next Thursday.

also I forgot to say I saw Gran Torino the other day, it's really strange...the film has some of the most dreadful acting, mostly from the actors playing the Hmong people, but it is a really funny movie (not what I was expecting it to be...the trailers are very misleading in that way) and very enjoyable, I thought to myself halfway through..."if this was any other film with this amount of bad acting I would be so pissed off right now...but...for some reason I'm loving it" and on a recap...if it had had better actors in certain roles...it would have been near perfect...though...I can't really recommend it...as...the acting may just be too bad...like I said...strange one really. ;)

But, in reality, the acting isn't bad as Hmong people have not been shaped by Hollywood imagery, as has Western culture.
Don't mean to sound condescending, but many Westerner people get caught up in a wrong cross-culture referencing. There's a specific term for this in sociology, but the word escapes me.

as far as I'm aware the actors I'm talking about were born in America...but even if they weren't...it IS bad acting...maybe it's because they are new...maybe it's because they didn't get enough time from the director...or maybe...they're just not good at acting ;) you'll know what I mean when you see it ;)

The International.
A conspiracy thriller with Clive Owen and Naomi Watts and directed by Tom Twyker (of Run Lola Run fame).
Not bad at all. Nothing new in it but it's well made, a decent script (with only a few cliches) and tautly edited and directed. Really good set piece shootout in the Guggenheim museum.

Hey, I never underestimated the powers of Miss Coppola! She totally won me over now - well, for as much as she hadn't done so already with the delightful Marie Antoinette... And so did Kirsten Dunst, who is just perfect as Lux!
Didn't you just love the scene "the word hurricane"? I know it's not the best in the film, therefor scenes like the discovery of the girls are too ... overpowering, but it's still some nice poetry in motion. :) Instant smile on the face.

You're right, I was, but there was no need for that I figured now ... As TVS is so entirely different from MA, and I'm guessing LIT will be too, so you can't really compare. I guess. No, watching the film somehow created even more magic, hehe. :)

Indeed! She's really good at that, she can let imagery and details speak for themselves, like a poem, yeh. Hadn't thought of that, but yeh! I've read some reviews taking this as a point of criticism though, saying it makes her films, eh, slow/slapjes, but I don't think that's true: they tell the story as well, beautifully so, and just add so much charm to the whole!
Oh, and Air did the soundtrack, they have an entire song with the words from the 'hurricane' scene. Check it out!

ah stad's it's almost like the old days the sun is out ..it's early morning ..we're talking about Prince ..damn I liked those days .... yeah of all the Batman films this has to be the best one the best cast for sure and just the right mix of light and dark .. I first saw it in NYC when it came out, because I just happened to be there ..good timing .. so it all slotted into place for me maybe Tim Burton had something to do with that ...
The only reason I watched it was because Prince had done the soundtrack and
I kind of fancied Michael Keaton at the time too. I'm not one for superheroes and all that, although I was a big Superman fan when I was little :o :D

2 Days in Paris.
I heart Julie Delpy, so I knew it was going to be brill.
Here is a quote I now hold dear to my heart:
It always fascinated me how people go from loving you madly to nothing at all, nothing. It hurts so much. When I feel someone is going to leave me, I have a tendency to break up first before I get to hear the whole thing. Here it is. One more, one less. Another wasted love story. I really love this one. When I think that its over, that I'll never see him again like this... well yes, I'll bump into him, we'll meet our new boyfriend and girlfriend, act as if we had never been together, then we'll slowly think of each other less and less until we forget each other completely. Almost. Always the same for me. Break up, break down. Drunk up, fool around. Meet one guy, then another, fuck around. Forget the one and only. Then after a few months of total emptiness start again to look for true love, desperately look everywhere and after two years of loneliness meet a new love and swear it is the one, until that one is gone as well. There's a moment in life where you can't recover any more from another break-up. And even if this person bugs you sixty percent of the time, well you still can’t live without him. And even if he wakes you up every day by sneezing right in your face, well you love his sneezes more than anyone else's kisses.

She's not telling anything (atleast before Marie-Antoinette we knew what she was doing)..I do love the Dior commercial (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wgNoD1Lemyw) she did..

On the other hand that could be a good thing, when good things come as a surprise they're even better.
And the commercial for Miss Chérie? It's lovely indeed. :) It really makes me want to go to Paris in summer, like the girl, and just blend in with the other Parisian folk.

Hahaha, I read that as going to Paris in the summer 'like A girl'..;)
I want to go to Paris too!
My husband's waiting!

Apart from Carnaval I will not incarnate as a girl - don't worry. ;)
And hahaha, your husband! Old love never dies, it is now proven. Aw. :D
My dad is going to Paris this Tuesday, for some kind of school exchange programma ... Lucky him! I only go to Paris in my mind anymore, by checking out hotels there on sunjets.be (which is quite fun when you're really, really, very bored) or by watching Amélie Poulain.

I can always ask my hubby dearest if we can stay at his place!
One day I'm taking us both there, and we'll fly across Champs Élysees by holding helium balloons!
I do have the translation for multiple parts of japanese dialogue, haha - always funny :D
whoops!

Interview With a Vampire. A programme about Romania under the Ceausescus had started on BBC2. I thought: if you want to watch something that has no connection with the Ceausescus, watch something about vampires. And so I did

The Trench, a serious version of the ww1 version of Blackadder, though in my view, all the squaddies were far too clean along with their kit too.

Help! Worth watching just for the music. Stories harmless 60s humour.
Still transferring all my videos onto DVD or the hard drive and enjoying the nostalgia.

just when i thought pastels couldn't look anything but ugly, she goes and proves me wrong :P miss coppola really is earning herself a grand reputation of making things look beautiful :) whatever her next film is, i hope its as beautiful, colourful and still has that style she distinctly holds :)
... oh and it must star either bill murray, kirsten dunst or scarlett johansson :p
A Beautiful Mind .... a seriously ace film ...

A documentary on The Jonestown Massacre.
Most interesting point, I mean other than the lost herd mentality going on, were the final keynotes tagged on the end of the film. One informing how 3 of Jones' top associates escaped, never to found, with loots of money(and that was by American standards) into the already impoverish area of Latin America.
hmmmmmm.
Ya know, with all the importation of illegal drugs coming from that area in the world, with links of distribution to areas all over the world... The possiblities are just staggering, no?
I watched I Heart Huckabees last night
I wasn't that impressed, one or two moments were funny but it was just too much of an attempt to be artsy

You guys have gotta forgive me because I feel like I'm always waaaaay behind the rest of you lot because:
1. I'm old.
2. I'm in Canada.
3. I'm in a small town in Canada.
So, I just saw Breaking & Entering I thought it was fucking amazing. Just, so well conceived and written. A full world. Sad and gorgeous at the same time. Left me wanting to watch it again.
You don't like artsy films?
Artsy films are fine, but this one just smacked of effort. A really pushed attempt at it.

I've been pondering getting that film in work for about a year now, it really that good?

You know what, Shamie? I don't know. Maybe it was that good because I knew nothing about it & had no expectations from it. I love Binoche, usually dislike Law, so was really kinda "meh." And then it was this revelation.
And its written & directed by a guy (name escapes at this moment) who started in theatre & I swear that aesthetic creeps through.
All I know is that the minute it ended, I wanted to watch it again. I like the pace, the quietness, the humour, the people . . . I dunno.
Doesn't help much, does it? Sorry!

i didnt think much of this film either.
Jude Law didnt really suit the role, and i really did feel totally odd when he threw up.
and Jason Schwartzman looked really tall! he's supposed to be a doudy little fat bloke like he was in marie antoinette! :P
the last film i havent ever seen before was Juno. Loved it!
the last film ive literally last seen was Titanic, and i don't care how many of you "artsy film watching folk" hate it. im an artsy film lover too but i still love this film! :p

Great art can take quite a bit of effort. In fact, I'm sure most masterpieces do.
I would have thought you'd figured it out by now. He's slow.

I felt the same way. It felt like it was trying too hard.
I watched it, merely because I loved The Life Aquatic so much, and I heart was recommended on that basis, but I was disappointed.
iuv. you seem to be confusing my smacks of effort idea. It's like wearing a pancho, putting on fake tan and an accent and saying you're a real mexican.
Oh and CM , Titanic is a fantastic movie, no matter what anyone says. It could easily have chopped half an hour out but it's still a great movie. But I'm biased, even if the film was shit, I'd have sex with that score.
PS: I have no idea where my comparison came from

If you haven´t seen it, do it. No superlatives can do it justice.

It was one of the MOST BORING FILMS I'VE EVER SEEEEEEEN, LOL... Motif with Hal was the only interesting part in it for me. And this stony board, what it was about? I absolutely didn't get this film. I don't know, maybe I'm too young:) I love Kubrick, but this? No no no! hahaha
I saw The Shining on Saturday - it was brilliant! Kubrick again :)
