SchuifAF! NOSTALGIAAAA!

Aumagaad!!!!
I loooved it, and sometimes I find myself singing the tune to that nowadays, still, hahaha! It was so good and just perfect for children - it was the succesful answer of VTM to Samson en Gert, I tell ya.

After Ingeborg left though it went downhill - it actually started already when that dull nephew Bartje was introduced, but then Ingeborg was still in and it was good. She was my favourite, you see - for real, not just because you are her youthful incarnation!

*goes on and on*

My favourite episode was the one in which they went to Spain. I also believed Arthur really lived in that mansion in the forest, and wondered if it wasn't too cold at night.

:o :D :D

PS The Power Rangers ... wasn't that on KanaalTwee?

Ooh.La.Lisa

! The Spain episodes were too amazing! (it was Benidorm, wasn't it ?)

I also like how they re-enacted these boardgames (like Cluedo and Ongelukslaan 13)! Hahahaha :D It's all coming back to me!

I loved Arthur's house too (especially the door! The door!)

Only one episode freaked me out, the one with the scary bear! It went all evil! I couldn't sleep at night, because my sister had a bear just like that one !

Ooh, and Ingeborg *sighs* she was just too good to be true...

Yes, yes, Benidorm, and Arthur fell in love with a Spanish senorita whose brothers were ripping him off so he had to become a toreador or what was the story again. Something in that vein, let's put it that way, hahaha!

Either way, I forgot about the boardgames, but you're right ! The Cluedo episode I still remember ... It was sooo well done! Wasn't Ingeborg the lady in red? :p

I can't remember the bear though. The dog, Mollie-Flappie, I can, but the scary bear seems to be missing in my head! :(

And, ooh, wasn't it a shock to you too to see Ingeborg presenting Blind date on Friday, which was something completely different?

Ooh.La.Lisa

Oh my, I'm laughing sooooo hard, here!

MOLLIE-FLAPPIE! How could I forget him (or was it a her ?)

KOEKELDOEDELDOE!!! :D:D

Seriously, we need to organize a SchuifAf meeting, where we'll watch all the episodes!

Yeah, I did watch Blind Date because I thought she was going to dress up and be all funny - but it wasn't...I was in tears!

Later in the evening, I watched the whole of The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms. A black and white classic with Ray Harryhausen stop motion animation. Do I need to say more?

Indeed, a true classic. It's been years since I've seen it although watching Cloverfield earlier in the year brought it very much to mind.

X-Men 3: The Last Stand

Special effects galore! And how! It was SOOO spectacular.
And it even had some sort of story behind it too, which is always nice for a movie, especially an action movie.

Seriously, though: why did they have to kill Jean? Couldn't they give her the cure too? Like they did for Magneto?

Oh well. I like the X-Men movies. I can't really explain why, though; I just do.

Osama

Watched this to see if we could use some elements of it in a presentation on Afghanistan. Very shocking at moments, and oh my God, what an ending! Poor girl. :(
for the spoiler part, Phoenix has to rise from the ashes :D, so...if they ever did a 4th film, they'd probably write that in...(I can't really remember Last Stand all to well...)

plus I literally had to point out to some people the Phoenix in the water at the end of X-Men 2 ;).

oh and there are 2 cool powers the coolest being Wolverine (and now Claire Bennett's :D) healing power is always good...means you can have an adamantium bone structure installed with retractable claws :D (seriously...I'm not a nerd)

and 2nd would be the mimic power Rogue's in X-men, (and Peter Petrelli's which is easier, as you don't need to actually touch anyone...and you won't end up with a white streak of hair :D)
why have one power when you can have them all :D

She would have disintergrated it if it came within her field of vaporisation. The only thing that could cope with repeared vaporisation was Wolverine's healing factor. They couldn't have got it close to her. All he could use was all he was armed with i.e. his claws

@ Mister_G:

Don't worry for her, there are mutants with the power of re-live people. ;)

Me saw:

Speed Racer. I like it a lot, there are too many visual effects but I like the style and I like Emile's act, he's perfect for the roll, even when I think he has a sadness printed on his face.

Iron Man. Nice movie, incredible visual effects, and the whole movie has a elegant air. The story feels like in the comic. Very good film.

Really, Rogue? I always thought it was a bit unfortunate for her, not being able to touch anyone without killing them. It's good in emergency situations though.

Oh my, you're completely right! I just completely forgot about her powers destroying everything in her sight; coming to think of it, it was quite logic yes that she had to, eh, die, rather than be cured.

Now I feel silly for my question, ahem.

Blind Date, yes. I always thought their vacation videos were so cheesy and ridiculous, lol, no wonder none of the couples ever hooked up in the end.

Near the end of the show it weren't just the videos, but also the questions that got out of hand - someone should have taught the contestans about subtle sexual innuendo, becuase it was too tragic.

Rogue's is a good power...she doesn't kill everyone she touches...unless she really wants to, when she first starts finding out about her powers she comes close to killing someone (but I don't remember her actually doing that...but then I haven't watched X-Men in a long time) she merely drains their life (and any abilities they have) where they will be out of commission for a while, she will have their power :D, Peter Petrelli's power on the other hand is much better, (for everyone concerned) as he doesn't need to touch them, or drain their life/power but just be in the same vicinity as them...pretty cool eh...:D plus he will keep that power, unlike Rogue, who will only be able to use it for a short time.

Iron Man

:( here lies yet another Marvel comic to movie dud...so many people told me, "yeah, it's brilliant, go see it" (I'd seen the trailer...wasn't that impressed the first time...but it did grow on me...I think I even posted on here with a link to it...:()

wish I had gone with my initial reaction :(

it takes way to long in the setup (there were some great scenes in it...like the beginning scene...but then it just starts to fall to pieces) there is some great use of cgi in the "suit test" scenes it does look real...but then you come to some of the battle scenes where it just becomes Transformers :(.

Robert Downey Jr, is...good as Tony Stark...Gwyneth though...whoa...some terrible acting...didn't see that coming, she's usually pretty decent...and of course talking of bad acting, the award must go to...(drum roll)...Terrence Howard...you know...I don't think I've seen him in a film where he's actually "acted" he just seems to be the same in every role...and that really is a bad role...:( If I knew he was in it, I probably would have waited for the DVD...

such a shame...should have been a good film...meh

oh and I hate films where people seem to get riddled with bullets but don't seem to bleed very much...but then it is a 12A ;) (probably another reason I should have waited) oh and...the fact that the first half (as my Uncle agreed) seemed like an episode of The A-Team (which I wouldn't mind a film of :D) "I love it when a suit of armor comes together" ;) ***puffs cigar***

HA! yeah right...

...anyway...

finally got round to watching the rest of OUTPOST and I can confirm that is in fact...shit...very shit, in fact...:( it doesn't help the fact that nobody in the film is in any way, a good actor...the "redneck" was by far the most watchable character, but at no point in the film did I get any sense of dread...which for the subject matter...is quite a bad thing (I mean Nazi's and the Occult...bring on Wolfenstein, hopefully that won't be shit...and the team that did Silent Hill are apparently part of it :D)

I had high hopes for this film...totally killed off by dodgy acting, crap lighting effects (I mean...a flood light in a forest is meant to be scary???)

bahhh

anyway...from (shit)Horror film...to a Disney film...

Enchanted the only word I can use to describe this film is...Excellent, I was surprised at how good it was (never thought I'd say that about a kids film ) though it probably helped that Amy Adams (http://www.burlingtonfreepress.com/blog/becky/uploaded_images/enchanted3-734744.jpg) is gorgeous in it :D (yep that definitely helped)

I heard the alternate ending was much better than the (shit) original theatrical ending.

but then nothing can make up for the I Robot Zombies, and really poor CGI animals that the film relies on so much...Will Smith was pretty decent in it though...from what I can remember, which is a shame for him really, one of his best acting roles let down by, basically everything else in the film, apart from his dog of course, which should have been awarded best supporting role.

anyway...from one film with a bad use of CGI to another with an overdose of pretty bad (and unneeded) CGI, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull (or like I said somewhere earlier, The Kingdom Of The Plastic Foil Lined Skull...which is what it looks like)

well now...firstly, to get it out of the way, the problem does not lie with Harrison Ford, as he's actually still able to be Indiana Jones, and looks pretty good while doing it. the same can't quite be said for anyone else in the film though...apart from the big Russian guy, who Indy has a fight with, over a lot of...ooh...sorry...shouldn't tell you that bit :D
Ray Winstone...yeah...probably should have put a little more effort into his role...Cate Blanchett...awful awful awful awful awful awful awful awful awful awful awful awful awful awful awful awful awful awful awful awful awful awful awful awful russian accent, really bad acting...actually quite wooden, and at no time did she feel like she was "the bad guy"...and the "I vant to know" line just made me cringe.
Shia Labeouf eh...neither good nor bad...but...if they are really thinking of having him as their new franchise...then...they probably should have made him slightly more likeable, and don't know her name, but she's the woman from Raiders, it was meant to be a big deal that she was back in the new Indy film...only...she's...not that great...but then there is a reason for it...;)

It's just a big mess of a film really...elements of X-Files, Terminal Velocity, The Hills Have Eyes...and er...Alvin and The Chipmunks...(trust me you'll know what I mean when you see it)

There are no big characters in it like Brian Blessed, no real funny bits...eh...it's just a let down...a really big let down...and it really all comes down to the story...

a magnetic skull that appears to be selectively magnetic ;)

YES! Watch it for the soundtrack. Best use of music in an indie film I have heard in all ages!!!!

Plus, the Gyllenhalls (Jake & Maggie) get to perform in this film together - quite rare and worth the watch.

At the end of the film, you're gonna want that bunny suit.

Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

The movie is just, "eh". Its just "ok" and the only good thing about it is closure for Indiana Jones. As you can imagine, the adventure will continue with Mutt (Shia LeBouf) and it remains to be seen if he will change his name for future sequels. The franchise lives on with him.

Does it get all "X-Files: The Movie"-ish on you? Yes. Yes it does. And in spades.

Jumper...great idea...fucked completely by a twat of a writer, a shit director and a terrible head of casting...Jamie (feckin) Bell(end)...Rachel Bilson (though it's not her fault, as who ever directed/scripted her first scene obviously had no idea what someone would be like after a person who was supposedly dead, suddenly shows up ;))
Hayden (twat) Christensen just isn't good enough to be a lead in anything...the only person in it of any worth is Samuel L Jackson (again, in a shit film) I wish he'd start reading the scripts before saying yes to them...but even then, I suppose it did sound good on paper...

it was a film I avoided going to see (as I thought it looked pretty bad in the trailer...but I wasn't expecting it to be this bad )

one good thing about it...is that I can see Cable (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tKNm9Ipfupw) being made in a few years time :D (possibly in Wolverine or even Deadpool spin offs)

I held off watching it for ages because I suspected I wouldn't like it and whilst it's well made from a technical point of view everything else about it is pretty much worthless. Here's hoping 'The Brothers Grimm' isn't as bad as reviewers made out.....

Blade Runner Final Cut

It's about time i watched this (seeing as it's been sitting on my shelf since December). I liked it, the only thing i don't get is the unicorn. Is Deckard remembering seeing a unicorn as a child? And if so, why a unicorn? Why not have him remembering his mother playing that song on the piano? Not only would it make a hell of a lot more sense, but it would fit in much better with that scene. That's just me

Blade Runner Final Cut....
Trouble is not all the versions make sense. You need to watch it again and put the pieces together, preferably the 'Final Cut' version. I've got the five disc Blu-ray release which not only means I understand all the versions, I also know the name of the bloke in the shop that the props man bought the nails from for the set used in an excised clip involving a giant dragon that never made it into any of the versions. Oh yes.

I got the 5-disc edition as well (DVD, not BR) but i've so far only seen the Final Cut (and the 1991 Directors Cut which i saw before, but i actually wasn't paying much attention). Right now i'm downloading a fan edit, which sounds cool, it changes all these things

1. Opens with “Reedited by ADigitalMan” logo, Blade Runner style
2. After the company logos, a snippet of deleted “happy ending” audio over a black screen where Rachel says, “You know what I think? That we were made for each other.”
3. “Tears in the Rain” opening credits.
4. Original “Eye on the City” opening sequence. The “reactive eye” of the Final Cut was too damn distracting … you spend your time looking at the iris and not the reflections.
5. Holden’s shooting cuts to black. Fade in on the advertising blimp heading downtown.
6. Extended intro to Deckard with more voiceovers, including the bit about Holden and the bit about his ex-wife.
7. Final Cut video of the whole Spinner ride to headquarters.
8. Removed the “Skin-Job/N-word” voiceover … Deckard refers to them as skin jobs himself later, which makes this awkward line even more misplaced.
9. Extended description of Leon’s abilities.
10. Holden in the Hospital. Brief bit the next morning as Deckard flips through the files and some of the voiceover about Tyrell growing slaves.
11. Alternate version of Leon’s hotel room.
12. Audio of Deckard trying to find four phony ones in a city of 160 million over his ride to the apartment. Deckard runs in the rain.
13. Deckard thinks about his wife while thumbing through photos. Note that he and his wife are on the same porch as Rachel and her mom. Hmmmmm.
14. No Friggin Unicorns (TM). I understand the shot’s significance, but is inserted ham-fistedly and fits with nothing else in the film. It’s the midichlorians of Blade Runner. There are enough other hints and the unicorn origami has a beautiful significance all its own without needing this to distort its meaning.
15. Alternate Esper analysis. I edited this down some. I especially like how this scene actually freezes on the same shot as Deckard’s printout. Why it was changed to something that doesn’t fit escapes me.
16. Deckard studies the fish scale at the sushi bar.
17. “Final Cut” video for the snake scale analysis and conversation with the snake maker.
18. Extended bit outside of Taffey Lewis’ bar. More hockey-masked go go dancers.
19. Bartender tells Deckard to talk to “the artists” about the snakes.
20. Deckard wonders why a replicant would be doing snake dances while he waits to corner Zhora.
21. Final Cut video for Zhora busting through the glass through Rachel shooting Leon.
22. Voiceover about “it’s not real blood” added.
23. Rachel and Deckard walk through the streets before heading back to his place.
24. Extended sequence where Rachel watches Deckard get clean.
25. Rachel watches Deckard sleep.
26. Extended love scene.
27. Return to visit Holden in the Hospital/Bryant and Gaff eavesdrop.
28. Security check as Sebastian and Roy ascend in the elevator.
29. “Father” remixed better than the Final Cut. Extended gore.
30. Roy descends in the elevator, hears the computer and calls her “Mom.”
31. Deckard is a smartass to the cop/”Good luck Blade Runner.”
32. Removed final voiceover at Roy’s death. “Final Cut” dove sequence. Final Cut video from rooftop to the end.
33. Gaff says “Are you sure you are a man? It’s hard to tell who’s who around here.”
34. No happy ending

4 Different Sound Options:
# 1) The original audio mix I did (no skin job n-word/father/no final voiceover at Batty’s death.
# 2) No voiceovers
# 3) skin job/father/theatrical Batty-death v.o.
# 4) skin job/father/workprint batty-death v.o.

Fun! Although i think the "Tears In The Rain" intro is a bit crappy

Face Off is a class film, Nicholas Cage back when he was watchable, John Travolta, back when he was
er...back, and in good films.

it's not as silly as it sounds either (if you remember this News Story (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/4484728.stm) love the "hybrid face" bit )

plus it's a John Woo film...what were you expecting? impossibly accurate stunts...where people fall and break every single bone in their body therefore ending the film in 3 minutes ;)

my advice skip the first action scene in Casino Royale ;)

every stunt in films should end like this (http://www.nothingtoxic.com/media/1211649075/Kid_Learns_the_Hard_Way_That_he_isnt_a_Parkour_Mas ter)

"Aanrijding in Moscou" on Thursday. It's a Flemmish film, and it was re-released in theatres because it has won a couple of prizes in Cannes. I missed it the first time, so I was happy that they were playing it again.
It's a really good film, really funny!

And "V for Vendetta" yesterday.
I think it's the 5th time I watched it, and finally every part of it.

Given that there is a fully documented record of a dog that can quite clearly say "Sausages", does this mean that 'A Bugs Life' could well be a documentary?

Not as good as 1 or 3. All three are better than Nightbreed though. Did you know they're filming the "Books Of Blood"? Can't wait for that, the Books Of Blood are the second best thing Clive Barker has ever written ("Imajica" is a masterpiece).

The battle for the worlds highest score on Donkey Kong between the two acknowledged champions - a school teacher and a hot sauce mogul. Sounds nerdy but it does what all good docs do - focus on bringing out the characters of the people involved. Near the end, when a big storyline was happening I was literally shouting at my TV.

Not bad. Spectacular landscapes and battle scenes and the man himself is portrayed as noble, romantic and resilient in the face of great suffering. Not as engaging as it could have been, however. Ooooh, blimey - top film. Had that on dodgy region 3 uncut VCD's before it came out over here.

Miike really revels in this sort of thing, doesn't he ! :D

You have to admit, though, that if you're going to do an over the top gang/revenge film then you should really go for it.........

Not safe for work, squeamish or blood-fainters (http://www.monkeysvsrobots.com/mvsrpm/images/uploads/ichi_the_killer.jpg)

i can't actually believe it's stooped that low! i'd expect it to be some kind of hentai type thing, but mainstream?! in cinemas and stuff?! craziness!

The Portrait of a Lady - being passed off as "an amazing film", I thought "oh, why the hell not" but I didn't see what the fuss was about at all!
Broken Flowers - kind of the same story. What the hell is this about anyway ? I like Bill Murray though.

yeah it's the length of it that has been a factor...as I've had loads of other stuff to keep me occupied so...it's one I've wanted to see for a long time...but...just keep forgetting about...may pick up the 3 disc edition which (I remember was quite cheap...but that's probably changed now :()

dOc

Mine is 2 discs - I wonder what they found to fill the third disc! I haven't tried to play disc 2.

I really didn't like King Kong. Although I thought it was very funny when it starts to throw girls looking for Naomi Watts, hehe.

Actually, the film is funny in parts. I kept thinking, during the Skull Island sequences, she really should have gone to work in the burlesque theatre. :D

so that's one Yay vote for King Kong, and one Nay vote...

Yeah, one vote each way. You may have to make up your own mind.

The BBFC didn't cut anything out of it, so how good (or indeed really unpleasant and upsetting) can the anime be? I'd rather read the original manga if I got the chance.

M Night Shamalamadingdong's "The Happening"

No story ending spoilers - don't worry.

Negatives first - Some of the worst acting from a leading pair I've ever seen on film, worse even than in Catwoman. It could almost have been a filmed practice run-through. Really shockingly bad and not in a good way. Cost £6.90 for a ticket too - rob dogs !

Positives - the bits where you see the "Happening", er, happening are quite startling and very original. I can't recall much similar before. The idea of it and the set pieces are sure to become a cinema talking point if the acting (see above) doesn't kill the film too stone dead first.

Worth seeing it for these parts, but wait for a cheap DVD in the sales. Trust me, it'll go cheap very quickly ! :D

Last night I watched Blood Beast Terror -- recorded from television on Tuesday night. I enjoyed it, although I can see reasons for thinking that it isn't a very good film. An interesting title, though - string together 3 horror words. A bit like calling a romantic comedy Kissy Love Fun.

Cineworld by any chance? ;)

we're quite lucky in Birmingham as we have one of the best Cinemas in the UK (there are only two in the country) AMC Broadstreet (http://www.amccinemas.co.uk) it's something like £3.75 before 6pm (that might be 5pm, I forget which) and then £5.50 after, unlike Cineworld at touchwood which was something like £6.90 on a Sunday (robbing bastards) but the worst has to be VUE cinemas at Starcity (which is a total shit hole...with police being there nearly every time you go...and not just regular police...these ones have their BIG dogs with them...in their BIG police vans)
not something you want when going for a night out at the cinema ;) but If I remember correctly it was something like £7.20  and their combos are ridiculous two drinks and a popcorn for £8.90  and they wonder why people have started downloading ;), and then they try and make it cheaper for you ;)..."if you buy this you get this free..." they don't tell you however that you will need to take a loan out to pay for what you are buying ;) (AMC aren't cheap on the food front, but at least it's all reasonable prices...of course we could all just get our peanut M&M's in sainsbury's (2 for £2) or a bottle of coke from woolies (2 for £1.50) but...we don't, we like to get it in those big containers (and the large AMC drink get's you a free refill :D that's pretty good for £2.80 as opposed to Cineworld's £3.00 for a smaller "large" with no refill...but I rarely use the refill, it's just nice to have the option :))

M Night's films are hit and miss...there is usually good points about them, but as a whole don't really work. I want to see it just for the "happening" bits...but I can see from your post that it's going to be more or less like everything else he's done.

I'm normally VERY disappointed by Western remakes of Eastern films but I really enjoyed that one. It's not got that real creeping dread feeling of Ringu but certainly does it justice in most other ways. It's new horse scene is burnt into my brain horribly.

The RE films were alright, after reading Romeros script for the first film it was clear it could have destroyed the series worse, at least they (for the most part) stayed away from the games. I do wish they would have used the novels for the films though, they worked.

Intended watching 'Mr + Mrs Smith' on C4 for the first 15 minutes or so to see if it was worth getting cheap on DVD. Five minutes later - ker-lick! That's quite enough of that rubbish thank you. The film simply has Brangelina playing, well, Brangelina. No characters as such just two Heat / Hello regulars wandering about but then I guess that's the attraction for the films target audience. Bizarre.

they ruined the films, it was just tedious bullshit and the zombie dogs were just awful...if something doesn't look good, don't put it in at all...and then came the feckin karate kick to the dog head...there was no point in a game where the main character was a "superhero" it was one of the many reasons the film's just didn't work, if they had just stayed with the storyline of the games, I think they would have been bloody great films...but Paul Anderson does have a knack for fucking up computer games...Mortal Kombat anyone?...such a simple idea (could have been great also) just meh...there are some great fight scenes of course...they just couldn't save the film...:(

Silent Hill compared to Resident Evil is a masterpiece...(I know...it's not) but it's one of the best, if not the only...video game to movie that's actually been a great film, and as true to the games as possible...and it's one of my favourite films to. (plus who doesn't like Red Pyramid :D)
