Oh I saw Little Miss Sunshine in the cinema with some fella a while back, it was funny!
I've just been rewatching Basic Instinct 1 and 2 - Sharon Stone is so sexy
is the second one any good?

I watched Borat today hehehehehehe so many things wrong with it, but so many things right :D and the running of the jew, reminded me of that show in the 80's where they had big heads on their shoulders....just can't think of the name......

and the fight in the hotel room in the nude was just so damn funny I got a stitch in my side.

also started watching Van Wilder 2.....but had to turn it off cause it's really bad, and whats the point without the main funny man Ryan Reynolds and no Tara Reid :(, though the english girl is quite sexy.....but not enough was going on to make me want to watch anymore......might force myself to watch it 2moro, I hate not seeing a movie in full........though I couldn't watch more than 20 minutes of Ultraviolet, that film was awful.......

What grabbed me is the long, panning, continuous shots. I saw a preview of the first 4-5 minutes of the film, which was amazing. That was enough for me to want to see it in the theater, rather than borrowing the DVD.

Yeah I initially thought some of those shots were faked to lok like they'd ben done in one take, but OOh La Lisa assures me that this film is well known for it's long takes - including the final battle scene - 20 minute take!!!! And the scene where he's in the car with Julianne Moore and they get ambushed - that appears to be all one take too - amazing stuff!!

I think the longest scene in one take I'd ever seen before that is from The Player by Robert Altman which has a great 12 minute opening shot :)

Haha last night (after going to the gym,...then going to get an indian takeaway!) the mrs and I snuggled up to watch... oh I'm ashamed to say it... Laws of Attraction (its her housemates!) in a 'it's crap but we can have it on in the background' kind of way.... hmmm no we both started getting all soppy and into it and ended up watching the whole thing from start to finish!! I can't really stand pierce brosnan or Julianne Moore, but she was quite endearing in this film, mostly because she's insane. I didn't cry though thank god.

I'm so embarrassed that I didn't think this film was absolute crap! Must've been the soppy side of me coming out... *shame*

Unfortunately I have only seen the first one, and I'm not so keen on gore myself, but the one thing I can say about Saw is that at least it has audiences gripping their seats and works on people's minds like a horror should - most films now tend to only focus on the gore so at least it actually does get into your head! I must see the second and third one now, even though I probably will have nightmares!

Mind you I wouldn't write home about much to be honest, I'd normally just use the phone - has this expression become extinct or has it's importance been heightened in the advent of the email?

Anyway, I digress - liked the film - she doesn't talk that much which is odd, but for a film which didn't really grab me I did feel quite moved at the end, so maybe it worked after all! The music was great and understated, and I liked the use of contemporary music with costume drama.

One of my favourite LynchFilms! It is a great film, and suprisingly non surreal (except the woman who can't running over deer, perhaps).

Touching story.

I met a guy the other day in Waterloo who had all his worldy possessions on the back of his bike (stakced about 7 foot high) and he fell over right in front of me. I helped him up and on his way and it turns out he was about 70 and had cycled all the way from Portugal. Bless him. He had his first bike nicked half way as well :(

Inland Empire (http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/collective/A20529669) looks intriguing. Lynch was on Front Row last week talking about his art exhibition (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/6411989.stm) and he stated that, for him, 35mm is dead and that all his future films would be shot on digital.

Didn't know about 'Bug' until you just mentioned it. That looks interesting too which is not unusual as William Friedkin can't seem to make a boring film - even his poor films seem to have something of interest.

A few films :)
Drop Dead Sexy - starring Jason Lee (My Name Is Earl :D) and Pruitt Taylor Vince (Identity) quite funny, low budget black comedy, some great one liners from Jason as always :D

Stay Alive - actually not as bad as I thought it would be, though some parts of it just don't fit in to the story that well, plus the "game" is a bit.....slow.....which doesn't really help the film.....still worth a look (If you have time to kill :))

Black Christmas - hmmmmm I'm half and half on this one, it's good in a way, but completely shite in another.....(I haven't seen the original though so not sure if there is any changes or anything) again if you have time to kill it's worth a look.....don't be expecting anything special though :) (If you are a buffy fan though it's good to see to a former cast member Michelle Trachtenberg say "Fucking" quite a lot :D)

Oh yeah and Rewatched Hoodwinked last night Man I love that film, everyone should have a "twitchy" as a pet (all together now) awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

heheheh I've seen a few really bad reviews for the film.....But I'm thinking these are the people that make films like "The English Patient" get oscars :(
and why does it have to be linked to bloody 9/11 FFS it's a story about history made into a comic book made into a film.......where the hell is the link between that, and that day a few years ago. I hate these people who try to make things out of nothing. (but I guess that is what reviewing is all about :D)

I saw it at the cinema last year. It's not bad - some great visuals and performances (although Scarlett Johanson is wasted) and typical of Christopher Nolan, the complexities and time shifts in the plot demand and reward concentration. I can't help but think that it's less than the sum of it's parts though.

I see Pan's Labyrinth is about to be released on DVD. I'd recommend that to anyone who hasn't seen it.

oh for fuck sake, why can't people just watch a movie and not look for little pollitical messages in them, JeBus Christie, you just want to go up to these people and go "it's a film, it's not a documentary you muppet" but then the muppet's would start a revolution because you said they were the same as the people that complained about the films, you can just see it now, Kermit and Miss Piggy waging war on mankind with rows of hot dog's strapped to their chests.

and there was a part of that article that made me think to myself "Well, yeah, there are people like that in your country, and in every other country on the planet, but if you are intelligent enough, you will know that a few people don't speak for the rest of your country, and making statements about a film that is purely fantasy only makes it worse.
anyway, I've read some reviews from real people in those countries and they are proud to be who they are, and they love the film :)

that is the same one I'm thinking about isn't it? the female mountaineers, in a cave, and yeah the ending was a bit odd, as the rest of the film was pretty damn good from what I can remember, it seems that very few films can have an ending that fits the film, there always seems to be a bit of a letdown at the way a film ends, there is only a slight few that have good endings.

I forget exactly what happens, but I do remember thinking "Oh, ok......that's it then" plus the blood she seemed to be covered in it, then completely clean in the next frame

Just saw OUTLAW with DANNY DYER, SEAN BEAN LENNIE JAMES and BOB HOSKINS
I had high hopes for this film, ever since seeing the trailer a few months ago, plus not seeing Bob Hoskins for quite some time, (he is quite good in the film) but unfortunately, the film just does not deliver what was promised in the trailer, there are good parts in the film, but from the start you can tell that there is something not quite right about the whole thing, from the crappy digital cameras that were used, to the horrible shakey camerawork, and really bad punchy zoom in's and zoom out's (I got the feeling they were trying to copy shows like 24 and NYPD Blue, but it doesn't work with digital cameras, you get really bad blurring with fast moving objects onscreen, making parts of the film quite hard to watch)

and Danny Dyer, hmmmmm, well what can I say, does he ever change his character? Sean Bean, I thought his character would have been....harder, a lot harder as he's meant to have just come back from the army.
Bob Hoskins and Lennie James (I've seen him in something else but can't remember what it was) were both very good in it.

anyway, it's a film that's ok, but nowehere near being great (and I'm being polite ) but it makes me wonder why I stopped the whole media thing myself, cause I think I could have done a better film :) (But I would say that wouldn't I :D)

No dude, you go into HMV or Sainsburys or wherever and they have aaaaaaaall the paramount DVDs and you get to choose any 3 for £15... they're not the ones in a box for £15 although I did get the Baz Luhrman (sp?!) box set for £15 that had 3 DVDs in it (Moulin rouge, Strictly Ballroom and Romeo and Juliet) to make things more confusing... I got the Funny girl/funny lady wee box set for £7... bargain!

I can't believe I've been off work since Monday lunch and the only film I've watched in that time is Boys dont cry... which the Mrs made me watch saying I couldnt be a proper lesbian if I hadnt seen it (I dont understand that in the slightest but there we go!) Well I didnt mind it, I just didn't like some of the bits in it, as a film it's alright, bit hard hitting and a bit horrible in places and I wouldn't say it was an overly lesbian film... just some girl who wants to be a boy really.

The ten rules? I'm not sure if there are 10.... I think there are 10 things you should have done to be 100% lezzog (I'm not a pure breed I don't think because I don't find Ms Jolie attractive)

1. Have seen a selection of lesbian orientated films such as Boys Don't Cry, But I'm a Cheerleader, If these walls could talk 2, and that other one who's name I cant remember but it involves 2 very annoying women painting eachother (as in paint on bodies painting each other) it was RUBBISH!

2. Have fancied Angelina Jolie

3. Have owned some kind of stripey polo shirt or shirt with patches on (if that makes any sense!)

4. Have owned a CD by one or all of the following artists: Ani Difranco, Melissa Etheridge, Sarah McLachlan, KD Lang, or any other woman who's sung at lillith fair with a guitar.

5. Have owned or at least seen all episodes of certain televisual dramas such as The L Word, Sugar Rush, Tipping the Velvet, Bad Girls, Playing the Field etc etc.

I can't think of any more right now, I'll get back to you!

p.s. any other lezzogs on the board don't shoot me, I'm one of you!

If you meet the criteria then you are more than welcome to be a lesbian, I don't see why anything should stop you. As far as the physical goes... I don't think there is one... I sure as hell wouldn't pass any physical!! Depending on your league of lesbian then you might have to be holding a few pounds and pretending it's muscle, or all muscly and thinking you're gods gift. I watched the last half of walk the line (mum was watching it when we rocked up yesterday) which reminded me that I loved that film in the cinema but it wasn't half as good on DVD... then yesterday whilst tucked up in bed I put 9 to 5 on... you HAVE to love a bit of Dolly!! Unfortunately I fell asleep just after the bit where Lily Tomlin thinks she's poisoned Mr Hart hahahah ohhh its so good.

Watched "Pan's labyrinth" on Friday. I'd not read any reviews as such... but had heard good things being said about it. It's fantasy (or rather - has a fantasy element), but it's about as far from Narnia as you can get.

Not what I was expecting, but I thought it was brilliant. It's probably best to see it without too much up-front knowledge, so I'll say nowt more. Definitely not one for the squeamish though.

And it's prompted me to update my signature pic. :)

Not really a film per se, but I watched that ITV movie of Mansfield Park starring Billie Piper last night. Usually I like that kind of thing, but it bored me a little. And I love Billie, but her eyebrows were distracting me throughout. The young guys did look hot in those Regency costumes though. Menswear was so much sexier in older times - it's a shame guys don't dress like that nowadays!

C.R.A.Z.Y., a French (Canadian) film :)
It was very nice, though maybe a tad too long for it's own good (tho that's personal taste).

Nice soundtrack, too.

Aaaaw loved that film!

Watched Angel-A last night - black and white french film about an out of luck guy and his Guardian Angel. Had some good quirky scenes and some great effects (which somehow worked better in B&W).

probably because all those directors/actors are too old to move or too dead to care

We're talking about women after rich men. (Though the girls are portrayed very sympathetically.) It's a musical about the depression made during the depression. It has a superb Warren and Dubin score - including "We're in the Money" and "Petting in the Park". The choreography is the work of Busby Berkeley. The cast includes Ginger Rogers. The jokes are still funny. After a lot of highly enjoyable froth, it ends with the searing social commentary of "Remember the Forgotten Man". That really shouldn't work - but it does.

Oh  I was pretty sure I posted this the other night.....obviously didn't though

300 - Very good film indeed, not a mind melting complicated story at all, but it's just the visuals that you get while watching it, it's exactly the same as the comic (I remember seeing the making of Ghost Rider where the director said "we got it as close to the comic book as possible, you couldn't get it any closer" well I'm not sorry to say, these guys did, and in such a beautiful way, even with the blood it's still a beautiful looking film, slow motion is used a lot during battle scenes which just make it even more elegant seeing a big Spartan soldier stab a few of the Persian army with his blade. it's not historically accurate but then it's not meant to be, like I've said before it's a Graphic Novel based on the battle of Thermopylae made into a film.

it's well worth seeing, and is definitely a film you should see at the Cinema

I think Gerard Butler will get a few more parts after this :)

He can have my part any day! ;) Sorry, couldn't resist.

I went to see 300 at the IMAX yesterday, which was quite something. Good film, but I could have done without some of the more bizarre touches, like the goat-headed minstrel and the giants, I thought they were a little too much.

It had to be one of the most homoerotic-looking movies ever - all those warriors with six-packs fighting in their pants and a cloak!

Just spent a week on holiday and saw a few films on DVD.

The Queen, which I liked a lot. Michael Sheen and Helen Mirren were great as Tony Blair and The Queen, and the Queen Mother and Prince Philip were cracking us up.

Babel - thought it was OK, but thought it was a bit too much like Crash (the Oscar-winning one), trying too hard to make its point. And some of the characters were annoyingly stupid, like the Mexican woman leaving those kids in the desert.

The Last King Of Scotland - well-made movie with some great performances. Quite gruesome in parts though.

hehehehe it would have been a bit different if they were wearing Nike tracksuits and had baseball bats......

depends if you find men attractive I guess, as some people have said that before, I didn't really see it like that, as the Spartans did fight in their pants  imagine that, I wouldn't leave the house unless I had on all my gear and a jacket.....:D

but yeah the goat thingy was odd but I liked the giants, don't forget its history meets fantasy :) Favourite scene is the first Persian/Spartan clash (where they push them back so far, and it all goes quiet for a split second :D love that bit)

Sienna Miller was actually pretty good as Edie Sedgwick, and looked great in all the 60s costumes. Guy Pearce gives one of the better performances as Andy Warhol that I've seen too. Hayden Christensen was a little miscast as the Bob Dylan-stand-in character though - even when young, Dylan was never that hot!

Watched Scenes Of A Sexual Nature on DVD too. Not exactly earth-shattering, but likeable, and done on a pretty small budget, I've heard - all of it's just filmed on Hampstead Heath, but it's still got a good cast (Ewan McGregor, Adrian Lester, Catherine Tate, Polly Walker...). Sophie Okenedo is really good in it as a complete psycho this young guy unwisely tries to chat up.

The movie was not total crap but the script and idea behind the movie was utterly crap, still pretty dang fun since it's an old horror (?) movie.

I didn't burn my tongue.

Last was 300, rented *cough* from a friend. *cough*

Rubbish. Too dark to even see the faces properly (worked in Sin City, Frank, not in this!). The plot was good but the facts were not entirely adhered to. But I won't go there. Anyway, what stuck in my craw was that it was just plain dull. I just could not follow the action because I was itching for it to finish. Too long by a mile definitely.

Finally caught up with Spiderman 2. Really liked it, even more than the first one. Thought I'd not be impressed with either but, well, colour me wrong.

Yes, I know, let's all laugh at "so behind the times" Carpy......:D

Today I watched a million films at home - well, rewatched, but films I hadn't watched in ages! I watched a cowboy film called 'The Virginian', 'Never been kissed', 'Three men and a baby' and 'My girl' which always makes me cry, which is why I don't watch it so much!

You need your head weaved into the floor!!

Had a girlie night in on Sat and watched Shrek 2 (whilst playing dreamphone!), Mean Girls (love love love!) and Wolf Creek. Think that's about it!

I wouldn't say 300's the best film ever or anything, but I do think it's the kind of film you need to see in the cinema. Watching it on a not very good 'rented' copy, I don't think you'd get the full effect of the visuals or sound, which I think would be the main reasons to watch that movie.

please don't tell me you actually love his acting?

he speaks like a "none funny" Capt Kirk.....watch a film with him in, and you'll see what I mean.....most obvious in Mask of Zorro :D

Maybe but the fact I was starting to pick holes in the story immediately and pointing out in my head where Frank Miller had got it wrong for 'dramatic effect' made me want to get up. Which I did.Sin City was great. But this was too much.

I would agree with that. We saw it at the cinema because of the style of film. I dont remember it being too dark either.

It was ok. Lots of blood and guts and muscled men in "leather speedos" as one review put it.

It's based on his Graphic Novel.....it's not meant to be an accurate history lesson....though it does still have the main pieces.

Yes, he's fucking gorgeous! I remember when that film first came out I was swooning over him!
I've kept in teen movie mode and watched 'Just my luck' - it was quite good!
But I'm in hysterics over a recent clip from one of my favourite shows 'Naked camera' - it's just too fucking funny!

Just Friends is one of my faves, (I kinda love Anna Faris :D and she's so F'ing funny in it) If you've not seen it yet I recommend it :)

I saw "Shooter" today apart from having the title which would probably be better on an english gangster flick :D, it's actually quite good (there are a few things wrong with it, but all in all, it's a good action movie, plus it has some really good sniping :D. and they finally had the trailer for Grindhouse on the big screen.....didn't see a release date though just coming soon :(

ooh ooh and they had Run Fat Boy Run trailer on in the foyer :D

Just watched the new short film by Owen Tooth 'The Opening'.
It was premiered at the 'BANG' Film Festival at the Broadway Cinema, Nottingham and will be slowly winging its way around the world to all the other major film festivals. Only a bit of blood in it (you don't actually see the cutting of his throat) All beautifully filmed, a mixture of Art, Folklore and Horror. Try and get to see it if you can - short trailer of it on my website and this page 'The Opening' (http://www.davidbeardmusic.com/Music_The-Opening.html). You can get to hear the score too.
All the best.
David.

Oh yeah, that too! It's probably more a combination of Michael Vartan, the ass-kicking fight scenes, Sydney's endless collection of wigs and her parents, both of whom were really awesome.

XMen 3 - the first Blu-ray fillum I've seen via PS3. :)
Reviews I'd read all gave mostly negative comments and almost all stated that it was the weakest of the three movies - I disagree. I thought it was very entertaining and mildly thought provoking - a great end to an excellent trilogy. So yah-boo-sucks to the reviewers! :p

I liked that too, and Kelsey Grammer was great as Beast (or Dr McCoy if you want to give him his none Mutant name :D)

I just wish they had the Sentinels in it for real :( good film though.

told ya :)

I watched the edn of Street Fighter last night.......poor Raul....what a way to end a career :( (Kylie was in it though :D.....and Chun Li looked awful, as did most of the characters....apart from Zangief who actually looked the same as the game character.....and what was with all those stupid blue army helmets?

plus all the fighting scenes were badly done, acting was awful, edits were awful......basically everything......I can see why I liked Mortal Kombat so much now (even though that's not that good either)......I knew SF was a shit film, but I forgot just how shit it was.

and don't ask why I bothered watching it......cause I still don't know.....only the fact that I was flicking through the channels last night and it was on.......
