I still don't know if I like these guys or not. I have some stuff of theirs before "Dialogue" and I grew tired of the songs very quickly. It just didn't hold my attention for too long.

NIN and David Bowie~ I'm Afraid of Americans Love this song. ^.^
It made me chuckle to see on the NIN "Closure" live film that while Bowie was happy just chilling out with a drink on the sofa backstage, Lou Reed was determined to be seen shmoozing with the band.
Kinda said it all really :D
Eek, I remember back when Bowie was determined to be seen shmoozing with Lou Reed.

They're all stuck on the Great Schmoozing Hamster Wheel, it seems then - each ones turn comes round as the schmoozee and schmoozer.
That wasn't easy to type either when your fingers are numb :D

I love that track. How come she never looks any older than she did in 1984? There`s definitely a painting in HER attic! Looking forward to the new album, I`ll be there Monday morning (or I might buy it on ITunes). Love her voice, always have.

It's true she hasn't aged a day, gawd bless her. Maybe it's becuase she never smiles, therefore never wrinkling her face?
I preordered my copy of her album after hearing the opening track - can't wait to get my (grubby little) hands on it. There's soooo mnay albums about to come out that I want LCD Soundsystem, Air, Tracey Thorn, Bjork.......going to be a great time for music.

Down on your knees,
You'll be left behind.
This is the beginning.
Watch what you think,
They can read your mind.
This is the beginning.
I got my moxie, and in my eyes
This is the beginning.
Well, my reflection I don't recognize
This is the beginning
We think we've come so high
Above all the backs we've come down
We face no consequence
This is the beginning of the end
You wait your turn,
You'll be last in line
This is the beginning
Get out the way,
Cause I'm getting mine.
This is the beginning
There are someones that can help themselves.
This is the beginning.
May be too late, as far as I can tell.
This is the beginning.
We think we've come so far,
On all our lies been taken.
They say no consequence.
This is the beginning of the end.

From the exclusive PeppermintPig-only "Radio Carpy Vol 1"
Ahhhhhh, superb! Like a universe opening out in front of me. I can`t think who it reminds me of - Gusgus, perhaps, or maybe some of the Orbital stuff from the mid-90s. Bliss!

120 Days - "S.T."
and already I don`t know how I could possibly have lived 34 years without it. This CD actually is my One Ring to rule them all now, and I am Frodo Baggins. If anyone takes it from me I will stab them in the eye.
It`s like fantastically melodic goth-electro that is both euphoric and painfully dark at the same time. I wish I had it on my big speakers in the living room!
EDIT - Oh WOW the next album on the CD is The Future and The Human League!!!! *weeps with joy like one of the Brontes*

1977 - The Future & The Human League - "The Golden Hour Of The Future" collection
"Dance Like A Star"
"Blank Clocks"
"Cairo"
"Disco Disaster"
"Overkill Disaster Crash V1"
"Last Man On Earth"
It became almost impossible for me to pick highlights from this, it`s just so amazing, particularly as I`ve always loved Human League. I listened to the whole thing three times last night, it seemed a bit disjointed (in a brilliant way of course!) on first listen but now (on the fourth listen) it`s come together as a bleepy howling echoey whole! The tracks above are current favourites, but I couldn`t leave it without mentioning the truly scary "Looking For The Black Haired Girls" and the amazingly Orbital-esque "4JG" which actually sounds like a Richard X backing!
Where can I buy the product "Dominion", I wonder? When I`m down I`ll feel up, when I`m up I`ll feel even better! :D :D :D
"Dada Dada Duchamp Vortex" is magical, a real trip. I wish it was about seven minutes longer though! And "New Pink Floyd" is EXTREMELY creepy, it`s one of those things that makes you look behind you if you`re listening to it and it`s dark
I always had an idea (from "The Dignity Of Labour" and "Empire State Human") that early Human League would be a moving experience, but I never knew it would be like this! Wow!

Junior Boys - "So This Is Goodbye"
from the eclectic and, indeed, essential-to-life compilation "Radio Carpy Vol. 1"
This starts off confidentially, with a nice young man whispering to me over what sounds like a continuation of The Future & The Human League. The beats come in and his whispering acquires a frantic edge. And melody comes in! Ooooh, this really is bloody good!
This makes Les Rhythms Digitales sound like an amateur. I love his voice, there`s something yearning, desperate and secret about it, and yet it`s very subtle, so that during the bits where he`s not singing you wish he was. I love "Count Souvenirs" it`s almost like Jean-Michel Jarre at the start but then it gets very Depeche Mode. I also love the title track, it`s a bit like being hypnotised by one of those watches on a chain, but from the lyrics I don`t know if I`m being hypnotised into leaving or staying!
The really annoying things about "Radio Carpy Vol.1" are:
1 - I can`t possibly fit it all onto my IPod in the space available, which means creating a whole new playlist which will take HOURS
2 - I`ve spent so much of my life ignorant of its contents that I feel like an ignorant buffoon. Ah well, not for the first time! (and certainly not the last!)
3 - I just used the word "ignorant" twice in the same sentence

Trent Reznor & Peter Murphy - "The Complete Radio Sessions"
It`s such a pleasure to hear Pete Murphy`s voice on something new that I was prepared to overlook any "inferior" versions of some of my favourite songs. Mind you, I wasn`t prepared for any of them being BETTER! The first track is their version of "Head Like A Hole" WOW it`s slow, menacing and Pete sounds pained. I don`t like their version of "Hurt" though, in places it sounds (dare I say it) a bit Matt Munro-ish (if Matt Munro were down a pit with a broken leg, of course).
I need to refresh my memory on the other tracks, I`ve lost my notes somewhere between yesterday afternoon and this morning. *grabs CD*
