"Teenage Lightning 2005"
from 'The Ape of Naples'
"Don't be alarmed
It will not harm you
Its only me pursuing
Something I'm not sure of
It's only lightning

Don't be alarmed
You can't be harmed
Teenage lightning
It's real?
Can you steal
Teenage lightning?
It is the lightning's
Deep, dark love."

"Going Up"
from 'The Ape of Naples'
Though this version is more of a threnody and was played at Jhonns funeral, some of you may already know the lyrics to this one:-
"Going Up:
Ground floor perfumery,
stationery and leather goods,
wigs and haberdashery
kitchenware and food...going up
First floor telephones,
gents ready-made suits,
shirts, socks, ties, hats,
underwear and shoes...going up
Second floor carpets,
travel goods and bedding,
material, soft furnishings,
restaurant and teas.
Going up! "

Today, whilst on the bus/train/metro, I listened to more than 6 hours worth of Coil, non-stop.
My brain, and the thoughts within, were scrambled to hell by the time I got home.
It included:-
Musick To Play In The Dark 1
Musick To Play In The Dark 2
Moons Milk In Four Phases
The Remote Viewer
And The Ambulance Died In His Arms (Live)
A Guide For Beginners, A Silver Voice
Coil - Mixes for Nine Inch Nails
How To Destroy Angels
The Ape of Naples
You really should try this. There were moments where I was mentally blown out (like during "Red Birds Will Fly Out of the East and Destroy Paris in a Night" - blimey!) and others where I'd be listening away and certain parts would force my eyes shut in a spontaneous "fuuuuuuuuuuuuuck" moment.
Also, the combination of facing towards the trains LED sign for some hours while listening gave me a great idea for a writing piece - it all but overloaded me with a deliciously delirious inspiration. I can't wait to get some absinthe going with this stuff !
This, my dear Frappers, is some very weird shit going on and nearly worth putting in Milkys 'drugs' thread !!!

Some of the new Radiohead tracks when they were played live at various dates this year. Not bad at all and much more a band sound with heaps of guitar, bass and drums alongside Thoms keys. "Nude", especially, is rather gorgeous !

"Sex with Sun Ra (Part Two - Sigilaricia) "
from "Black Antlers (Deluxe Edition)"
"He dreamt of color music and the machines that make it possible
He took me for a ride on a space ship powered by natural music."
Genius as ever, this pair features a rambling account of an imaginary meeting between Jhonn Balance and the cosmic jazz/funk/noise/space original, based in part on Ra's own mystical spoutings. "Part One – Saturnalia" is set to unpredictable but primarily organic percussion, while "Part Two – Sigillaricia" is a more processed, mechanized version laced with studio effects.

"All The Pretty Little Horses"
from "Black Antlers (Deluxe Edition)"
"Way down yonder, down in the meadow,
There's a poor wee little lamby.
The bees and the butterflies pickin' at its eyes,
The poor wee thing cried for her mammy."
Sigh.
Just beautiful - a cover of the British folk standard delivered primarily with just expertly played marimba, Jhonn as close to singing as he gets and a finale of firework electronics and studio effects. A lullaby by any other name.
You people reeeeeeeally should dig into this stuff - you'd like it, you know !

Erroll Garner - Piano Magic. I ordered this from Amazon by mistake, thinking that it was an album by Piano Magic (the band) - rather than one called Piano Magic. Still, it turns out to be a piece of serendipity. It's cool piano music - laid back - jazzy - enjoyable.

Sam Cooke--A Change Is Gonna Come
I was born by the river in a little tent
And just like the river, I've been running ever since
It's been a long time coming
But I know a change is gonna come
It's been too hard living, but I'm afraid to die
I don't know what's up there beyond the sky
It's been a long time coming
But I know a change is gonna come
I go to the movie, and I go downtown
Somebody keep telling me "Don't hang around"
It's been a long time coming
But I know a change is gonna come
Then I go to my brother and I say, "Brother, help me please"
But he winds up knocking me back down on my knees
There've been times that I've thought I couldn't last for long
But now I think I'm able to carry on
It's been a long time coming
But I know a change is gonna come
