Teardrop - Massive Attack
"Ooh La La".
Radio Scotland has a request show called "Get it On" and the theme tonight was glamorous bands/pop stars. Well, I just had to phone up and pay my own tribute didn't I? :)
I did ask for Strict Machine, but it seems they only had Ooh La La to hand. Not that I'm complaining.
the new scissor sisters album 'ta-dah'

It was getting their "hits" (ha, gotta love that idea) album in the post that got me listening and ripping their stuff to my Zen again.
ISDN, Lifeforms EP, Dead Cities, I love revisiting stuff like that.

More from "Lifeforms" by Future Sound of London
I remember reading a great comment once that if teenage kids really, truly wanted to rebel and scare the living daylights out of their parents they'd shelve all their punk/metal/noisy stuff, turn all the lights off in their bedroom, close the door and crank this double album up so it can be heard chirping, rasping, bleeping, muttering and generally oozing under the door and into the rest of the house.........
Crank up "Spineless Jelly" to epic volume and watch for social services or mental health to come running.....

Oh, I`d forgotten all ABOUT Electribe 101! They were splendiferous indeed.... "Tell Me When The Fever Ended" is amazing, and I think the single cover had a Venus fly trap on it, which is always a good thing.

Future Sound Of London
"Papua New Guinea Translation #2 - Papsico"
"Papua New Guinea Translation #2 - The Lovers"
In 1992, Future Sound of London released the single "Papua New Guinea". Fueled by electronica-meets-dub rhythms, an insistent sequencer pattern, and the sampled voice of Lisa Gerrard from Dead Can Dance, it floated alongside Orb's "Little Fluffy Clouds" as one of the signature sounds from those trippy years. On this disc, FSOL creates a "Papua New Guinea" canon with eight variations on the original theme. As opposed to the guest remixers who twiddle the tune on the reissue of FSOL's Accelerator, here, the boys retool their own work. There's an Isaac Hayes-like "Shaft" revision on a version called "The Lovers" and an ambient chamber music rendition with banjo on "Requiem." Filtered through acid rock guitars on "Wooden Ships," the original "Papua" is rendered completely unrecognizable.

Exact same thing for me. I actually really got into "Pass this on" from the video. I thought it was the most bizarre thing. After a couple of repeats (to actually get a glimpse of Karin & Olof) I grew to really adore it. Olof is the first one to dance with the drag queen. You can glimpse Karin sitting at the table when the camera pans.

Well, m' deer Cervus, I'll give you a little T.a.t.u-history...
They are two Russian Girls, who, because of some stupid publicity-stunt, pretended to be a Lesbian Couple. Their shows were even a bit controversial, 'cause they couldn't help "getting physical" on stage. After a while (and a lot of digging by frustrated journalist) people found out that both of them were in a relationship with... oh yes, a guy (SHOCK!)
A lot of awkward interviews were to follow, allabout the same toppic : gay or straight ?
Eventually, they even entered the Eurovision SongContest, but they ended 3rd!
They were pissed off and took a break..
Apparantly now, they are trying to make a big comeback, without the whole LesbianStuff, but (sadly) the people don't seem to like them without a little "interaction" on stage...
That's it for now... (no I'm not a t.a.t.u-fan) :D

It did worry me slightly re your knowledge of pseudo-lesbians:) I didn't mind the music as such (tho they did sound a bit like Minnie Mouse on Helium!) it was just the tarting about that was a bit difficult to stomach. Wasn't entirely suprised that it was all publicity.:)

Aww, don't worry, pseudo-Lesbians is only a hobby, I'm more specialized in singing animals :D! And as for the information; I just read a lot of teen magazines when they were at their "highest point of success", so that's my real source (I'm no freak googlin' pseudo lesbians :))
I don't like their music, either, the first song, maybe, because it was all new, but now.. couldn't bare listening to them :p

"Mountains (Extended Version)" (9m 35s)
So funky that it must be made of raw, untreated funk. The brass is sooooooo good and the jazz guitar is lush.
Prince & The Revolution
"America (Extended Version)" (21m 36s)
A mammoth track with so much sprawling Henrix-like guitar jam heroics that it positively lives and breathes. Glorious.

The albums you mention are the pinnacle of Front 242's work, IMHO. I've been a fan since about 1988, when I bought the "Headhunter" CD from the WaxTrax! catalog. WaxTrax! turned me onto so many great electronic bands. *sigh*

It's weird, some industrial stuff dates really badly and sounds terrible now yet other things are still very good to dig out.
This even to the extent that stuff like mid/late-period Front242 ("Tyranny", "On", "Off", "Up Evil", "Angels v Animals") sounds great cranked up still, yet the earlier stuff I really can't listen to that much.
Some Nitzer Ebb has dated badly though and some of the really crazy stuff like "PlasterChrist" by G.G.F.H. still sits in my favourites list.

I liked them around the time I was really into DM, which was around 87-89. I was going through the Mute catalog at that point (then progressed to the WaxTrax! catalog.)
I still bust out the early Nitzer Ebb stuff every once in a while. I love the songs "Shame" and "Murderous." "Warsaw Ghetto" is a great one to.
How about Skinny Puppy? (I used to listen to them as I went to sleep for a while there. I guess that explains my brain damage. )If so, have you heard Ogre's solo project ohGr? Ahh, Wax Trax! I got introduced to a lot of bands via that label. I agree Warsaw Ghetto is great (I have it on vinyl) but I really love the Showtime album. I have a lot of fond memories aligned with that album. "Lightning Man", "Getting Closer & "Fun to be had" were my fave's.
I think I used to own that ohGr album a long time ago, before half my CD collection got stolen :(. I think I have to look into that one again. It's been soo long since I've heard it. But again the latest output of Skinny Puppy is absolutely terrible.

Darkel - solo album by JB Dunckel from Air. Pretty good, quite chilled-sounding, as you'd probably expect.

"Flow Coma"
Probably the best record with 303's in....ever !
At one point there are probably about 8 or 9 303's riffing wildly in all directions, complete with panning and phasing effects over the top. Bonkers but bloody wonderful. Always makes me think of Madchaster 80's house meets Richie Hawtins 'Plastikman' stuff. Top.
This is the track that caused John Peel to take his headphones off part way through as it was making him feel light-headed and nauseous. That led to a few seconds of dead air afterwards followed by a rather apologetic "Oh, sorry, I didn't realise it had finished"
