Question to the other followers of all things Mel Garside on here (Danni / Duncan amongst others) - is it just me or is there a cat purring loudly in the background of this track, running most of the way through it ??

"Radiodread"
Yep, the same crew that gave you "The Dub Side of the Moon" put Radioheads "OK, Computer" through the skanking dub reggae an' ting.......and it's fucking brilliant !!!!!
By the time Horace Andy, a voice from the gods, has worked around the lilting brass "Airbag" workout there really is no going back. Suddenly a female vocal and a line of trombones leading "Paranoid Android" are the only way.

I'm pretty certain that its OK to like Guillemots. The Indie community was there an awful long time before Radio 1. Not like The Automatic or someone like that where they just come out of nowhere for no reason.

If you don't mind buying from the UStatesOfA it's only $12.99 new - that's like two London pints, isn't it ? Not too bad for some skanktastic goodness - it works way better than it has any right too, tbh.

Currently, I'm on the live+bonus 'special' tracks I've tagged on the end of each album - I'd forgotten how good they were, especially the eastern sounding orchestra parts on Little Death, and her crooning voice on 'Yes Sir' . Wonderful, the lot of 'em.
In case anybody wants to know where these come from (as will likely happen with all our recently joined friends with no proctice at searching) then all tracks were taken and ripped by myself from various CD's and DVD's - virtually all of which are still available. I know a few of you dig the heavy stuff and love a bit of the doom too - you're so going to love this. Another new album and another killer ! Aaron pained as hell and the music is even more intricate and beautiful yet weighed down with anger and sorrow. Some of the riffs on this are just nasty....
Do you (and your army of BM badgers) like the 'Bride, Fourscarf ?

Thom Yorke - The Eraser (track). Just amazing.
The outro to that track is such a waste. He could have made another brilliant song out of it!

"Boys will be boys" in all it's crackly, vinyl glory.
I have to say that it's a chunky piece of vinyl as well. Much thicker than all my other 7" singles.
I effing hate that blasted sticky thing I had to remove at the top. Now I have no description on the record to tell me what the hell it is. Hmmm, in hindsight maybe I shouldn't have removed it and just slit it open with knife. Ugh......I'm an idiot.

I avoided that completely by buying the physical vinyl and grabbing the digital download too. That's just me though ;):D

The other factor for me was that my vinyl deck never made the move with me and is therefore some 250+ miles away. Bit of a clincher really ! :D
I'm tempted to get a USB one - you play the vinyl as normal but it sends it to your PC to record - hence a way of backing up all your old albums and 12"

That is MORE than a good thing. Verpertine is one of my all time favourite albums. Tho he did work with her on Selmasongs.
Oooh on the bjork website today......
Thom Yorke says in Spin August 2006 that "Unravel" from Homogenic is one of his all-time favourite songs, reciting:
While you are away
my heart comes undone
Slowly unravels
in a ball of yarn
The devil collects it
"I'm trying to get Radiohead to do a cover because I think it's one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard."
Hmmmmm An album of Bjork lullabies.....wonder what this is like......

Still got the new forthcoming My Dying Bride playing - "A Line of Deathless Kings".
Within the space of four or five spins it's gone from being "not bad" to "bloody excellent". They've really pushed the stops out on this one ! It's like bits of all their various styles and flavours across the last 16years finally welded together in one album - Aaron using the full range of clean, sung, growled and death vocals, sometimes even on one track.
Of course, this will make no sense to those of you who've never heard of them !

Finally heard the whole Bat For Lashes album, "Fur and Gold".
I have to say it's one of the strongest debut albums I've heard in a damn long time.
If you take one part Bjork, one part Tori Amos and one part Amanda Palmer (Dresden Dolls) then you have a very good idea of the voice of Natasha Khan, the person who basically IS the heart of the stupidly impressive band. The current Bat For Lashes line up is singer Natasha and Ginger Lee who both play a mixture of piano, guitars, harpsichord, autoharp and electronic machines and Abi on viola who also doubles up on percussion.
The songs are very strong - no weak links across the album even on first listen - amazingly well constructed, played and sung with a mixture of styles but always one cohesive sound.
The music is a glorious mixture of strings, harpsichord, big drums, wobbly saw, occasional guitar, light electronics and rhythms. It's gothic but never Goth, huge but never overblown......
One of the best things I've heard in ages......
Marillion: Map of the world from "anoraknophobia"
