Yeah, consider it well and truly endorsed.
By the way, anybody interested in Trembler's own amateurly-mixed, poorly produced mix with all the killer choons to make up for it that I did last year, let me know and I'll hook you up. It's no problem, just make sure to massage my ego if you like it. My mate described it as 'less a DJ mix, more a good compilation CD with the songs overlapping a bit'
Now I'm listening to a Billie Holiday compilation set.

I agree, it sounds a lot like tegan and sara whom I hate. BUT ! There is an AMAZING remix of Gold Lion by Diplo that blows my mind.
Oooh yeah, it`s on the British CD single! I LOVE that remix, I can`t work out how they`ve speeded the vocals up to fit the fast drum pattern and yet she doesn`t sound like Chip&Dale!
At the moment listening to Kool & The Gang - "Fresh" (not by choice! but I secretly think it`s pretty good AND it reminds me of playing hide&seek in the old railway station at the end of our road when I was a kid)

Well i did have an excellent Cut Copy mix they did on Radio 1 (buut seemed to have lost it  ).
To be honest i can't be doing with seemless mix stuff in the home. I like a track to finish and another start. It's alright for dance record that have lead in's etc.. but on alot of songs these guys have spent ages making the start and end work. Why mess it up. Fair enough when you really start to deconstruct the song and cut it up thats okay, but then generally the song becomes a different song - NOT the original. And lets face the original is usually the best.
I think the track order and time between tracks as as musc an art form as mixing tracks.
Trem: You still owe me a a few comp CDs i thinks!!! ;) You stilllisten ing to your Jap Pop CD?

Diplo is the shit, that's how he did it. Actually, YYY's most likely gave him vocal tracks, etc and he probably just cliped those and put it on top of the beats he made.

I agree...all of them are good, quite an amazing set of singles...Love the mark bell mixes!
I still have some gaps in my singles collection..missing some debut singles, the army of me single set and one of the It's in our hands singles.
I'm not a person who buys singles just to complete, I rather buy singles that have tracks (whether it is a remix or B-side) I do not have on disc...And if I absolutely love the artist. Which includes 19/20 of the björk singles (as 1/20 or so, unless It's from the Medúlla period and forward, is DVD singles with music videos available on her video collection DVD and the audio tracks are on CD1 and 2) and when it comes to Goldfrapp its all of them. I only buy singles from Goldfrapp and Björk (Who are my top 2) as that's all I can afford I'm afraid..
I'm not going to be hunting down the björk singles that are out of print as that is too much work..

I couldn't feel any bleaker if I'd put a jaunty hat on a Christmas Robin for a photo and then found out it had actually been a nuclear winter......
Yep, I've been listening to the new Black Heart Procession album "The Spell" - an album both desolate AND uplifting in the same turn.
It's the sort of album that thrusts it's hand into your chest, rips your heart out, squeezes the life out of it, sticks it in a grater and serves it up to you on some nice bread...........and you lap it up AND ask the chef for the recipe. The other four albums are easily among "The Carpathians Favourites In a Long Time" (tm) but this trumps even those. Just utterly gorgeous in an aching kinda way.
Thanks to the lovely antlers of a certain Miss June - it's amazing and you've quite made my week. You'll be getting a freshly squeezed 11track compilation in the next day or two in return.

Weird that some of the tracks on it are 25yrs old () yet due to their unique sound they still sound quite fresh and unusual even now. There's things from far more recent that have dated worse.
Currently on "Gentlemen Take Polaroids" and watching Mick Karn doing his weird 'duck walk' shuffle thing across the stage.

Phew, if I recall (and I'd have to check otherwise) it was Wolverhampton and either Manchester or Brum. Could therefore have been the late 87 rather than early 88 end of things. Trust me, that was a blur then so a blurry-blur now ! :D

Still the breathtakingly awesome Morrissey album, especially Life is a Pigsty. A career best.
For you Cocteau Twins fans... do you know Elizabeth has risen from her Bristol retreat (sort of hehe) and has recorded a whole album with her partner, Damon, ex-Spiitualized? It's apparently 'harder' than her usual stuff. I miss living in Clifton because I'd often see her with her kids shopping in the village.

Jackson and His Computer Band (http://www.jacksonandhiscomputerband.com/) - "Fast Life"
from the album "Smash"
Quite the oddest and most wonderful thing I've heard in ages - only chanced on it due to a mention in yesterdays free Metro paper !
Aphex Twin meets Art of Noise meets Daft Punk meets untreated psychotic schizophrenia over an album out there very much on it's own.
Totally, totally out there sequencing of samples as (off)beats, melody lines played by an ADD suffering ape and the found-sound choices of a blind magpie............
..........but it's bloody excellent because of and/or despite all that !
Anybody else heard of him/them ?

Bent are tops. I loved 'Ariels' however I suspect the 'Programmed to Love' purists were not won over. They do have a tendency to keep a fairly low profile though they're still an ongoing concern as far as I'm aware.
