Funnily enough, my Bedingfield hatred only extends to the girl. Dan (as I like to call him) always comes accross as a nice guy, and he's obviously worked hard to get where he is and had a clear idea of what he wanted to do, writing and producing his own stuff, etc.

Its not the sort of thing I listen to, far from it, but the respect comes from its worlds away from how his sister got famous. And to be fair, the boy can sing too.

He also gives fat blokes hope everywhere!

but he's sooooooooo anoying. have you ever seen him being interviewed. i swear if i was actually dying of thirst and i had one glass of water but suddenly HE walked by.....

Should hope so you're seeing her in a week.

Speaking of which:

There is a new cadburys cream egg easter advert, and i'm sure it uses the intro of Imogen Heap's song Headlock!! But as we're talking the bit before the song starts maybe it's just knicked!

Is that "The Killing Moon" by Echo And The Bunnymen? Or has someone covered it? (hope not!)

I noticed Lush and Miranda Sex Garden in that list. You`re fabulous!

Currently listening to Throwing Muses - "Fish" and wishing Satin Chic (or, indeed, anything other than the obvious) was the next Frapp single.

Yes, Echo & The Bunnymen. I actually signed back in to give you a big old *smooch* for Throwing Muses! Kristin Hersh is a goddess. Love her. As soon as the current playlist stops I am going to toss in "Limbo" - thanks for sparking the old noggin.

I love you Carpy...not said that to a guy for a long time!

oooh this makes me all weepy...

As I've said a million times (well, about 10) I love seeing other people happy and you wouldn't believe how much fun sharing music is. Isn't that why things like "What are you listening to?" even exist ?

I've already sent a few things out quietly in the background around this place and I have more planned - including some DVD's to Spain next week ! Doesn't mean I don't care greatly about each one I do though.

People love music and people love sharing (even if they pretend anything otherwise at times). Both those things appeal to me.

As long as people enjoy, or even experience, what I send them then I'm happy.

Just call me a musical empath by proxy ;)

This track really harks back to the early Tangs days/ Ohr label records ... this was the first album they signed with Virgin V2004 (Edit er maybe that number belongs to Faust IV but Phaedra was one of the very first albums Virgin turned out)...I still remember the number how mad is that? ...My copies ..and I had a few ...always had a forest of scratches through that track...virgin never turned out decent vinyl back then...

I first heard this track on John Peel's show and It just captivated me...

I guess I seem to be the only one who just can't get into her (Imogen Heap). I bought the cd as I heard soo many great things said about Imogen Heap on this board and other boards and  . I just don't like it. It's her voice almost like Dido and Sarah McLachlan wrapped into one. No matter how many times I try to listen. I've even tried different environs you know - iPod, Stereo in the bedroom, car stereo while driving on the highway (highway driving usually does it for me too).....I just can't force myself to like it :(.

Apparat Organ Quartet
"Romantika", "Stereo Rock & Roll" and "The Anguish of Space-Time".

Take four Icelandic synth players with old analog kit and add a live drummer and you get genius falling somewhere between Kraftwerk, Ladytron, StereoLab, Mum and even Italian horror maestro's Goblin !

To achieve their unique analog sound‎ they modify old organs, sometimes even sawing them in half in order to carry them around to live events, and obscure‎ synthesizers to their needs. They also use lots of other discarded music technology including the all-but-forgotten stylophone!.

Their fanaticism‎ for old keyboards is to such an extreme that the group has a special deal with Iceland's sanitation department‎ that states that the band will get a telephone call every time an old organ or synthesizer turns up in the dump‎.

I've said in the past and, most likely, will say in the future that Goldfrapp fans who like a bit of analog synth in their diet would really get a kick from this lot.

Totally agree. I sent loads of stuff to people in the early years of frapp board (whether they wanted it or not :D). It's the giving that you get pleasure from. :) And it's nice as you get stuff back when you least expect it (thanks Softlad etc).

Anyhow Apparat Organ Quartet: mmm. I like it - obviously a lovely noise. But can't help feeling they are having more fun than the audience. They look great live mind (bet they are European or US - nobody doe s this stuff in UK). Infact it reminds me of a track that came up on my ipod the other day and i forgot to see what it was. I have so much on there i have no idea what it was ...and still can't find it!

Haha yeah, I got the albums because so many people on here compaired her to Goldfrapp and then some review said she was smooth like Kings Of Convenience ( which are rather untrue - except perhaps on the KOC part - some songs do have that KOC air to them )

Anyways - yeah, I love those two tracks on the DJ Kicks album.

feck I haven't heard that in ages.
Saying that in the commonroom someone found some hits 98 or some CD with like C'est la vie, 5ive, some club remix of My heart will go on...it was great!

I'm listening to a new Long Blondes demo track called "Weekend Without Makeup" in preperation for the gig on Saturday night.

There are wants and there are needs,
And they're two very different things.
You can love or be in love, again,
They're two very different things,
Yes they're two very different things.

You and I, we're different,
You and I, we're two very different things,
But still I've got you, I've got you under my skin.

i think its out on monday. theyre just playing all the tracks and theyve got the band talking about the album . im finding karen o a bit irritating though. She literally puts a "yeah" between every word she says, or a "errrrm" or "y'know" or a "like". Now I know why they're called the yeah yeah yeahs.

Karen O can be blamed for every single female scenester dressing with no co-ordination whatsoever for the past three years.

Does anybody think that she actually dresses well? I appreciate making a bold statement with what you're wearing but if its not aesthetically pleasing as well then its just shit - isn't it?

I must admit that I've always looked at her and wondered if she had a mirror and/or coloured vision.

Thing is though that I saw her on TOTP (yeah, so sue me) doing "Gold Lion" in her glaring yellow and red shiny 70's curtains dress and I actually quite liked it. That's the dress and the song.

I see nature balanced this off though by moving one hand to now protrude awkwardly from her shoulder.

Haha YES, I agree 100% ! I hate the girls on myspace who idolize her. Makes me sick. She wore spandex to a couple shows here... then there was this neon spandex phase. Big mess.

Her and Gwen have bothed pinched teh idea from Japanese school girls. they have been mixing and matching (with no colour sense) designer clothes for years ..according to my Chinese/NZ friend anyway. She can identify any Aisian girls nationality by the away they dress!

Dreadzone "Far Encounter" (feat. Alison giving it some !)

It is a little sad however that the later version included on one of their albums is the exact same track.....except with no Alison in sight. I realise she doesn't look back on those early things that fondly but I hate revisionist changes in music.

Sometimes it's the early work that helps show the progression and, in this case, her stuff was great anyway !

John Parish "Pretty Baby"

Probably in the top five horniest records Alison has taken part in.

Her voice is so charged and full of emotion that it positively crackles with electric. There's a couple of points where a word breaks up or get's rolled on a syllable and, well, it's more than a guy can bear..... :o
