Normal stuff remix-wise? Well yes, plenty of phaser action on the drums and loads of treble on the EQ's yes. They've pretty much ripped the melody out as well which they seem to do a lot. I would email it you but I only have it on mini-disc. Erol Alkan starts one of his sets with it which you can stream at www.erolalkan.co.uk - I know I plug him a lot but he's a great DJ.

Soulwax's own stuff?
I've got the second album (Any Minute Now), which is fun at times but a bit too patchy. Each song basically works of a differet quirky idea - as to whether you like the song or not depends on how long you can subject yourself to that single idea. NY Excuse is the only song on the album which I'd say was great (which is essentially an LCD Soundsystem song!). I think your best off getting Nite Versions, it was much more entertaining when I saw them tour that than when I saw them tour AMN. And the songs I've heard off it on various DJ sets I have lying about are awesome. The Nite Version of 'E Talking' is so much better than the AMN version of it, for example. But then again they're so different its not the case that it wouldn't be worth buying both.
In summary: start with 'Nite Versions' and go from there!

Just that the lyrics can be construed differently to how they are meant!
Not that I'd mind. Ben Gibbard is one of the few people on Earth I could go gay for. But he needs to break into the 'Golden three', which at the moment is:
Zach Braff
Johnny Depp
Ewan McGregor

Some of that early ZTT stuff was amazing - early Frankie, Art of Noise, Propaganda....heck, even Anne Pigalle had a curious charm then.
"(Who's Afraid Of) The Art Of Noise?" still sounds like nothing else before or since, even with all the sampling that's been done by pretty much everybody in some way since. A real zeitgeist moment musically.
I know Trevor Horn was the svengali behind the mixer but everything in that early period on that label just made you go "Wow - what was that !!"

Weezer--Perfect Situation
Just found that Rivers is going back to Harvard to complete his college degree. Good for him.
He won't have trouble making friends!!!
Me:
The Avalanches - Since I Left You
*dances*
Bananarama - Waterfall.
Singlehandedly responsible for my impressive procrastination on my Helmut Newton essay.

Ha ha, yeah. There's a bit on my Spike Jonze DVD where he's in interview and just comes accross as the most horrible person ever - he doesn't mind letting interviewers know he doesn't like them! But he did write 'Keep Fishin' and the Blue Album so he's kinda forgiven.
Me:
Badly Drawn Boy - About A Boy
I do love weezer..Make believe was really good aswell, when i heard Beverly hills I though hm maybe it might not be so good but I do like it lots.

Basically a love letter to his wife. With a proposal as the climax - kinda sweet really. Proves that little hairy urchins from Bolton have feelings too, I guess.

After that Propaganda post earlier got me on a ZTT tip I'm listening to:
Now: Art of Noise "Realization"
(I'd never noticed before how much the beats in this sound like the Adrian Sherwood "ON-U Sound" Depeche Mode remixes - which this predates by years !)
Next: Art of Noise "How to Kill"
Queued: Art of Noise: "A Time to Fear (Who's Afraid)"
I'd forgotten how dark, moody and militaristic a lot of their first album was before they got sillier as each album went on. Cracking stuff.
