Yeah, one of my favourite songs as well. I like the way its about how good it is! So is 'Perfect Day' believe it or not - and they released it as a Children in Need song! Also, how on earth did Nico managae to geta career as a singer? Her voice has never ever been in key - but for some reason is nice to listen to. Especially when she goes: "What a clowwwwwwwwnnn". There's also a great story about how she fucked John Cale for no other reason but to piss Lou Reed off.
I'm listening to:
Death From Above 1979 - You're A Woman, I'm A Machine

'American Idiot' by Green Day. The last in a trilogy of albums I've borrowed from my friend in an attempt to like some mainstream rock. This is better than the last Coldplay and Oasis albums, but still, ever so slightly: meh.
It's quite a grower - I d/l'd it and deleted it being very unmoved. As I've heard tracks again it's kinda clicked and I've bought both that AND the live CD/DVD film thing. Love em to bits now.
I'd (quite rightly) abandon the other two attempts and give that a few more spins.

Nathan Fake - "The Sky Was Pink" (original live take)
Imagine a more electronic Sigur Ros, or a panoramic chill-out room version of M83.
There's some notes rising and rising, building up in intensity through this - get's the hairs standing up on the back of your neck. Wonderful and very much a guy to watch.
Go and find this - you'l love it !

I used to really like Nimrod and Dookie back in the day - its not as if I'm new to their sound. Its just that I don't think that this was the overhaul some people make it out to be. His guitar does nothing for me I'm afraid, although I can like some of the stuff the other two are doing.
To give them credit they are trying to break some new ground, the first Rock Opera thing works quite well, but unless I can fathom any discernible musical ideas in addition to this, it's just going to bore me. 'When September Ends' is also one of the worst singles ever! - So annoying coming from what was a great 'singles' band.

You've just scored a massive bonus point.
"Those Who Tell The Truth Shall Die, Those Who Tell The Truth Shall Live Forever" is one of my favourite albums ever and "First Breath After Coma", from "The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place", makes my heart want to explode.
You've picked a good 'un there !
Try going here (http://explosionsinthesky.phpnet.org/) as they have loads of amazing live gigs to download AND have one of their Peel sessions - all nice and legal too !

Nathan Fake - "The Sky Was Pink" (Icelandic Version)
To quote the first review Google brought up (so no cheating on my part !)
Unobtainable for well over a year, Fake's second ever 12" finally gets repressed on its original Border Community home, and it's still a monster.
There's the original take for the electronica fans, coming across like an uplifting M83 record. For those of the cosmic disposition, try imagining the Icelandic Version on -8, it's absolute bliss. But flip over for what was easily one of the tunes of 2004, where label boss James Holden turns the track into a ten minute pulsating, ever-growing, FX-laden ethereal masterpiece, which has to be heard in its entirety to be fully believed. There's also another Holden mix with a locked-groove run off to play with too.
Pure brilliance.
:D :p
