Why should it be my favourite? I have another Bright Eyes question for you, whuich should I buy next 'Letting off the Happineess' or 'Story is in the Soil'. Both are a fiver in Fopp and I may treat myself tomorrow. 'Happiness' looks more cheery bythe cover, I'd like something a bit more along the lines of 'First Day Of My Life' becaue I found Fevers and Mirros very dark.
letting off the happiness is good
i love that Fevers and Mirrors is dark-its my favourite
and Arienette is amazing
its just when he sings "don't leave me here with only mirrors watching me"
love it

That is a great album - I'm loving him at the moment too - but if you like that album then you really should get the "Illinoise" album because it's just as good if not a million times better! I really want to get my hands on an electronic experimental album he did a few years ago called Enjoy Your Rabbit. Heard one track and it was mental :)

I'd like to hear that electronic album. He's only got three records out over here but I know he has a massive back catalogue of EP's and the like you can get on import.

I've been messing with a remix of "Unreadable Communication" for a while and have the bare bones built up. You'll note it stop/starts rather than smoothly flowing - I have all the original samples from the track (where these came from) and am trying to work out where to take the bits I've got.
I'm trying to keep it quite chilled and simple, hence just using tablas and the like to work around the vocals.
Comments, ideas or peals of laughter all welcome. Except the laughter. Obviously.

Sooooooooooo wanted that album to be good, turned out to be a real let down. There's something verging on the sad about listening to a couple of blokes who are obviously talented producing such - it grieves me to say this - bland music. One or two good tracks a good album certainly do not make. :(

Well it took me just tonight.... I watched the video for "What Else is There ?"...... was stunned..... realised that I knew the voice (the girl from "The Knife".... which I don't really like apart from "Pass This On")......
Anyway, now Depeche Mode - John the Revelator.....
Man I've tried again and again seeing that so many people were in love with Depeche Mode...... I still can't.... I've just downloaded Playing the Angel, listened to it.... and am about to delete it !

Did you gte to see them on this last tour? The last album is much stronger live, but you're right it doesn't hold a candle to Melody AM.

We've got Scunthorpe at home, which can only be described as a "potential banana skin", which with Manchester City usually quickly translates into an "early cup exit". Which then prompts bullshit about "It's OK we can now concentrate on the league", in which we'll finish mid-table but then "there's always next year".

That was the first Dead Can Dance record I ever bought. I remember - it was late spring 1989, I got home with it and put it on, and within 45 seconds I`d been transported to another world. I love "Ullyses" and "Orbis De Ignis" but I find it difficult just to listen to individual tracks, the album should be experienced as a whole. I think Lisa Gerrard`s voice sounded the best on "The Serpent`s Egg" although it always sounds beautiful.
Right now I`m listening to Harvey`s Rabbit - "Is This What You Call Change?" - I feel a bit sad cos I don`t like it as much as I used to.

Aaaarrgh it makes me CRINGE, those AWFUL lyrics ("Me and my dad having a top laugh", "I`m so glad I`m not at school boss") it makes me SCREAM and it had better not get in the charts, ever. The only thing that redeems it ever so slightly is when it starts sounding a little bit like Kings Of Convenience at the end - but it still sounds like a GCSE Music student trying to be profound and not being. IT`S SHIT! (sigh)
