I think he is cool, you can tell as well that he's itching to do more atmospheric stuff, and I think if he goes solo you'll hear more stripped down sounds on Parachutes - its Jonny who adds the stadium-size riffs, not Chris. They also came out to Ascent (An ending) by Brian Eno when I saw them, meaning that they are very cool people.

There's a part earlier in the album I think is the best. I remember doing some uni work in my room a coulpe of months ago and a part of that album was so beautiful I breathed out, put my pen down, turned round at my hi-fi and muttered "fuckinghell". You forget how good they are, and I missed out on getting tickets for them! Why did they have to play the chuffing Lowry! It was sold out before I even heard about it.

I am listening to the BRILLIANT Patrick Wolf CD "Wind In THe Wires" along with the new Turin Brakes (much better as a full album than their last two) and what I can get my hands on of the new Imogen Heap CD (heard like 6 songs so far and I like half of them A LOT and half are meh).

...you know i saw his album in a bargin bin before i left and i bought Rush - Power Windows instead in a fit of madness! Wasn't feeling myself that day as that album just wasn't how i remembered it!
Although just got the Pussy Galore album (with Alison on) in a bargin bin in Auckland. My roomate walked in teh room and said ah! Shirley Bassey and wouldn't believe it wasn't.:)

Great song; was played briefly on WUEV over here in Evansville back in the early 90's, along with their rendition of Speed Racer!
By the way, I was listening to a piece on NPR this morning about the history of guitar playing in America. The reporter talked about his own guitar that got repaired. And he played a version of End Of A Holiday by Fairport Concention! I shouted out with glee for that one.

Patrick Wolf has gotten some play on really good radio stations like KCRW in California. Most American radio is shit (stuff like Black Eyed Peas or JoJo). I bought the CD from Amazon UK b/c I knew already about him. So far he has no tour plans here, so I doubt he's sold many records. But yes, he is a really special secret. I think he has the potential to be a major artist if he wants to be (meaning reach a wider audience but retain some artistry, a la Goldfrapp).

The Jaws theme redone by Lalo Schifrin in an Acid-Jazz stylee.
IT'S GENIUS!!
Especially if you ever wanted to know what the film would sound like if remade as a blaxploitationer :D

That's okay, I don't use iTune unless I want something quickly. :)
I'm still using that Stationripper program to rip from intenet radio. It's now recorded 3000 different rock MP3s and has left me with a big job sorting out what I want to keep. :D

Anybody out there thinking about writing a self-indulgent, ballad about lost love - it has to be as good as 'Beautiful Day' to get away with it. The rest of the album sounds nothing like it, but is still quite good none the less.
