Er, well, I'm in a band. We only started recording stuff properly last summer and then uni began again so we haven't got anything 'down' as such, but we're all finishing next month so we're going to start again in earnest. Looking forward to continually playing gigs again in summer with nothing else to worry about.
I've been playing guitar for a while now, I've just got a normal Yamaha acoustic, and a Ibanez semi-acoustic electric guitar which I love to death, and quite a few FX units. - it was that sound-scapey bit of guitaring that I used to like doing, but I've put that on the backburner recently and have been getting into computer programming when I've got time; using Cubase and Reason mostly, and I'm hoping to get started on Ableton soon as well, so I could do more performing. I have also acquired quite a fetish for VST instruments, with our own Kavokei giving me lots of helpful pointers. I just can't wait to finish my degree so I can get practising again with my badmates and return to a level of competency.
Earlier this year Kavokei and I did start a piece of music, which I thought was good, but we just couldn't get it to go anywhere so it didn't end up on here. We are also in the embryonic stages of a DJ mix CD which will be made available on here for all and sundry.
Oh, I'm listening to Massive Attack - Blue Lines

Trem and I will hopefully be working on something soon, but it's a bit difficult just now with exams etc. He's a talented musician though with loads of ideas, so I'm looking forward to getting some stuff done.
I think TS has got pretty well a similar setup to me, or will have - on my PC I have Cubase SX, Reason, Ableton Live and Audition - I was a big fan of CoolEdit, it and Audition are so easy to use, I can get stuff done really quickly in it with all the keyboard shortcuts I've set up. I'm also getting really into Ableton - the audio warping function totally blows my mind, and the program as a whole is so good for getting ideas down quickly. Hopefully I'll have sorted out a laptop soon so I can take Live anywhere and show off ;)

Listening to a mix CD given to me by Savannah, a DJ who plays in Liverpool quite a bit - she's into quite heavy stuff, a bit of Breakfastaz - The Pressure playing now... there seems to be lots of old-school/rave influenced stuff around at the moment. It's quite weird seeing people who were toddlers when I was first getting into acid house/rave dancing to records that sound almost the same.

Do you know the story behind it? It's actually some crazy evangelist from the eighties who tried to get MTV taken off air. The really scary thing is that voice - is actually a womans! Missing Persons, Duran Duran, Missing Persons, Duran Duran.
I'm quite impressed that Mylo has reached the states now though, wow. He signed a big deal with sony as well actually. It was this time last year I was telling evrybody about him to replies of 'who?'

The verses: gradually exciting. The chorus: just wonderful!!!! Was this a single, or was it used on an advert.....in other words, how did i know this song before i heard the Rooty album? It's practically responsible for me getting to love the Jaxx in the first place! Also, did anyone like 'Oh My Gosh'? Haven't bought the hits cd that come out recently, but i bought the single. This got played by 2ManyDj's when I saw them at the Chibuku 5th Birthday in March, fookin' maazing!
I love all the English colloquilaisms in a Dance-funk song. And I'm really glad that the singer who's in the live band has got 'her own' single as well because she deserves it. I'm seeing the Jaxx in June as well, fantastic!

Siouxsie and the Banshees: Israel
Is that a keyboard or a guitar playing all the way through this? Wicked bass, and that guitar (I know this bit in particular is a guitar!) bit a couple of minutes in? Brilliant!!! The Banshees have always been ace, but it's the whole Kaleidoscope/Juju/Kiss in the Dreamhouse/John McGeoch on guitar era that just does it for me! Might play 'Arabian Knights' in a mo....

Mia - Hieb & Stichfest (...the other and very different MIA)
..funny i went onthe german bulletin board for this band the other day asking about electro-pop-rock type stuff, and got this from a someone:
"Sportfreunde Stiller (very BIG band over here, who went a bit mainstream, just as:), Wir sind Helden, Anajo (not very known yet, more guitars, but very good!), Paula (a bit more on the electro-pop side, but catchy, nevertheless) Heinz aus Wien (Austrian band who haven't really made it in Germany, yet), KETTCAR (one of the BEST bands around at the moment!!!) and many more.
Also, you might want to check out Silbermond and Juli, two bands who really hit it big last year after being equipped with an experienced production team. They're not really my taste (or that of most people in this forum), but you might like 'em, who knows.
If you want something really new, go for Mediengruppe Telekommander, a German/Austrian Electro-Alternative-Hiphop-Punk-Duo. Just great!!!"
 Crazy how much stuff is out there you'll never hear!!! Still fancy going to Berlin though we should have a Goldfrapp outing - then again better wait till i'm in the same continent!!:D
