How old are you? I'm 33 and I don't give a shit. In fact I'm happier now than I was when I was 23, which isn't saying much as I was a miserable git back then.
By the way, there's a shop in North Dublin that sells Linoleum and its called Lino Richie. Wahayyy!!!

39! I thought I was the only old fart on this board. Jesus, that's scary. You're 40 next year you do realise that?
No wonder you're sobbing uncontrollably.;).
As for prizes, I could arrange a 'Will will fix it badge' if you want? Or maybe I could give you a Goldfrapp shower of frappian kisses. Hold on! Goldfrapp shower? No, I'm not going to follow that wordplay's smutty line of trajectory.
Hey! I just noticed you have the lyrics to Utopia as your personal signature.

I turn 41 on the 21st of this month. I believe that Duncan is also in the geezer ranks on this board. Lino, you're no geezer, though. Don't cry, girl there will be no black balloons upon our doors.
You're right, Greenwell, I turned 47 last month - which qualifies me to tell Sandii that she is still a mere slip of a girl. Happy birthday for tomorrow, pet.

Toto: Hold the Line
Utter shite this is, but sometimes a little of that 1970's AOR can get the job done and then some!
By the way, bought LCD Soundsystem's album the other week, and i quite like it. The bonus disc os probably better though: 'Losing my Edge' is one of the best singles I've heard in absolutely ages, shame I missed it when it first came out!
Hmm, what else have i heard..... Gwen Stefani's new album, which is brilliant in places, alrite in others. Erm, Stevie Wonder's Fullfillingness' First Finale, which is fantastic, the best thing he's ever done in my opinion: i never thought Stevie was sexy, but 'Creepin'? Unbelievable. Really seductive!
Big find for me over the last few months has been the Super Furry Animals, a band i've always neglected, most notoriously in my books as the band that I didn't see in favour of Goldfrapp at v2003 (aka: best gig of my life). I made the right choice, though i'm sure the Furries (see, i talk like I'm a real fan!!) would have been almost as good. Yeah, they're wicked, and Radiator and Guerilla are two of the best pop albums ever!!!

I saw Tori in The Sunday Times two weekends ago. She's 41 and looks incredible.
I'm listening to LOTR The Return of the King Soundtrack, Track 4: Minas Tirith. That's the bit of music that accompanies the beacons being lit on top of all those alps and the sweeping panoramic vistas. Ta-ta-ta-ta- tantara!
Rabble rousing stuff. Its the kind of music that helps me to daydream and come up with all sorts of stories in my lonely little head.
However I'm pissed off they left out the Rohirrim's charge. C'est pas juste.
Jimi, I don't know about you, but this album strikes me as being like some weird hybrid of Remain In Light-era Talking Heads and The Fall (mostly because of the way he ends his lines with an extra syllable). Interesting stuff though.
I'm listening to music based on the infamous, badly-translated sentence "all your base are belong to us" from a Japanese videogame ...
What happen?
Somebody set up us the bomb. :(
All your base are belong to us!
Take off every "Zig"!
It's explained here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All_your_base_are_belong_to_us).
I always wondered what the hell that phrase was about. :D

Hi. Hope your doing well. I think rock music has gone a bit shit here at the moment. I think it's 'eaten itself' as such. You mentioned Bloc Party, and they're the only guitar based band that float my boat at the moment, and they sort of come from a dance background.
Tom Vek seems to be making all the right noises though, he looks really interesting.
I've been listening to 'Wind in the Wires' by Patrick Wolf as well which I quite like, but I don't know if its your thing Tatty. But anybody who likes Bright Eyes should check him out because he pisses on him in the folktronica stakes - whatever they are.
Ooh, I am starting to really like the Kills as well.
But a couple of really good clubbing nights have turned me back onto the electonic side of things at the moment. Les Rhythmes Digitales (thanks to the Citroen ad) is on permanent rotation.
Oh, and I picked up a collection of Einsturzende Neubauten stuff 1991-2001 really cheap from Fopp. I implore everyone to buy this, the sleevenotes are so pretentious in themselves they're worth the fiver alone!
But right now I'm listening to an old faithful:

I think it 's the rock music media that is up it's own arse (i'm sure the good bands are out there!) when i left.
What about Arcade Fire? They sound interesting (in a Bright Eyes sort of way!). Also did you check The Dears, they're getting plugged over here at the mo, great as Lost In the Plot is on the music TV loads. Although have to say NZ are in love with the Killers at the mo! I think i've heard Brightside nearly every other day sincce i've been here. Also like new Queens of the Stone Age song which is getting loads of play here!
Cool thing about being in NZ is you get less UK but more US rock stuff. So hear move stuff like Moving Units and Trans Am. Also NZ rap and Hip Hop is so popluar here you don't get much US shit! Dance music wise they are still living in the 90's rave scene - which is bad for anything original but great live.
Ive just fallen in love with a folk rock band Goldenhorse who have a beautiful singer www.goldenhorse.co.nz (watch run Run Run video) and is quite interesting to watch live.
Also, although it's kind of overkill here, Brooke Fraser has a lovely easy listening voice (a girl who will know doubt suceed where Bic Runga failed in US/UK).
Sonds like you're having one of this 'introveted music' moods!! :) You know it will end in you loving the cheesiest piece of pop known to man in about 2 weeks time!!

Irony! I'm listening to Annie - Anniemal at the moment, but that's great.
As for the rock media getting up its own arse, its really annoying at the moment. Because all the teenyboppers are into the Killers/Bravery/Whatever Bullshit at the moment, and the NME are trying to go with it, you would have thought that they would have learned their lesson after throwing their weight behind Avril Lavigne and Kelly Osbourne a couple of years ago, and you're right there are probably great bands in there, but they can't get any press due to the fact that the most mundane of news about the Scissor Sisters, Franz Ferdinand, Pete Doherty gets priority on column inches.
Also, with Oasis and Coldplay releasing albums soon they're taking up a lot of space as well. BTW, how fucking annoying is it when a music mag prints 'rumoured tracklistings' for a new album. Who gives a fuck what the songs are called?
Arcade Fire seem alright, I haven't listened to much, but the Deers are slightly too derivative for my taste. So many bands are ripping the eighties off I just want to know what 2005 sounds like. (I'm sorry, how much of a nobhead muso do I sound?)
I will checkout that link, and could you do me a favour Tatt and let us know the names of any good hip hop artists you hear out there? There's nothing better to impress people with than obscure hip hop! And I know you're not really a fan of the genre, but I've been listening a lot to Dead Prez's 2000 album, 'Let's Get Free', you should try it: those who like good electronic music will appreciate it as much as rap fans.

Think I was right! about your mood!!! ;)
I kind of want to see Oasis release an album - they have to fullfill their destiny as the new Status Quo. I want them to die a terrible, slow painful death!! ;) Have to say though i'm looking forward to Coldpay, if just for the Kraftwerk sample. Whatever people say Chris has a beautiful voice. Haven't heard them for ages but saw him sing Yellow on MTV the other day and it was lovely!
Is Pete Docherty still bothering you lot over there? Give him a chat show!
Alas by HipHop I mean Pop Hip Hop so not sure if it's your cup of tea. The cool thing is it's has a kind of islander/Moari vide so they replace sexism and gun culture with comment and comedy. It doesn't take itself to seriously. That's why it's nice. Their rock music just isn't really good enough to beat the world yet!

Aw, Oasis. It's kind of sad to see the band who were essentially my introduction to music becoming such a laughing stock. It's eve more sad when you actually come from Manchester and loads of people still talk about them as if they're not just musically relevant, but important. I heard the new song the other day and despaired.
Coldplay - yeah, I'm a fan. The last album wasn't as great as everyone made out though, however 'In My Place' can still bring a lump to my throat (certain time of life). BTW, has anybody else got a pivotal, huge, amazing moment of their life soundtracked by a fucking awful song? It can't be worse than mine - Gareth fucking Gates doing 'Unchained Melody'. Ugh.
The nation has become bored of Pete Doherty's refusal to die. It's funny, the press seem to have their bets hedged on him dying so that they can lord it when he does go. Like the people who like to boast that they were well into Jeff Buckley and Nirvana when they were still going. However, I'm quick to point out that many people have smack habits and have lived long lives, Jason Pierce was on it for years if I imagine right. And I'm glad for my own selfish reasons!
Ah, the Go Team! I've been there quite a while. They were also truly amazing live.

Me and Softlad are BIG fans! Noticed you had it on you r best album list (it's the least favourite of their 4 albums on the board!). So bent will be pleased you loved it!
They were great Live with the two girls live (singing all the old songs aswell) last year. They are the nicest blokes in pop - they bought me a pint after the gig (and from what i've heard they do it all the time). Made a fool of myself in front of Katy though - was a bit pissed and overcome by love!
I love 'Now I must remember' off that album - helped by Katy being quite enigmatic!
me: my ipod party mix i'm creating for weekend.
Prince - Alphabet Street is a great song - had forgotten all about it!
+ puts on Bent - Ariels
:)
i can remember listening to all the bent albums behind the till at hmv when i was meant to be working!!
ariels stood out the most for me, i guess im more of a fan of the three minute pop song with chorus thing...their other albums i liked, but might not have listened to so much, would be good to dance to though!!

Starting Today really good start and Shiver is brilliant (best song for years) but then Satisfied is a but cringe worthy.
