Do you think he meant the American one Roo. Unless there not an American band, I always thought talking heads were American.
Rickyroo
06-01-2005, 13:35
I think they're quite international with the cities references, because he references Memphis as a city in both America and in Greece. Thus the line "And what about Memphis? Home of Elvis. And the ancients Greeks"
But all the cities they mention are actually 'stolen' names, i.e. cities around the world that America also has with the same name.
As for the band themselves, three of them are American (Jerry Harrison, Chris Frantz and the lovely Tina Weymouth) whilst David Byrne is actually Scottish.

Yes, its essay writing music, especially the (mostly instrumental) second disc. I have a few stock albums that entertain you while you're writing but don't distract you. Namely:
Royksop - Melody AM
Sly and the Revolutionaries - Black Ash Dub
Boards of Canada - Music has the Right to Children
That said, better get back to the essay...

Now listening to " Architects Nosebleed" by Savage Henry.
Never heard of them ???
Hopefully you will if they make it. They are my nieces boyfriend and his friend who play a style of music which is described as "Industrial, electronic rock".
They have played some gigs so far around some of the pubs and music venues in London.
Good luck to them..

Hey student! by The Fall
Astonishingly good.
Ah-well I'm walking down the street,
It's always students that I meet,
Long hair down and sneakers on your feet.
Write your letters to the Evening News
I clench my fist and sing this tune:
I said Hey student, hey student, hey student,
You're gonna get it through the head,
I said Hey student, hey student, hey student,
You're gonna get it through the head, I said...

And it's not that impressive really (actually very annoying when brought up in certain company), although I am going round hers and having dinner with her tonight because she split up with her girlfriend.
