Bit o' New Order (Age of Consent, The Village) here and there and right now Basement Jaxx's absolutely fabulous 'Jump N Shout', which has the best silly sound effect ever in a song, one that's repeated over and over again and increasingly gets higher and funnier as the song progresses!

Hehe - Indigo is actually the one song on that album that I don't like...

Tori Amos - Professional Widow (the original, not the Armen Van Helden remix that got to number one)

Slag pit, Stag shit,
Honey bring it close to my lips
Yeah.
Don't blow those brains yet,
We gotta be big boy,
We gotta be big.

Starfucker just like my Daddy,
Starfucker just like my Daddy,
Just like my Daddy selling his baby.
Just like my Daddy.
Gonna strike a deal make him feel like a Congressman,
It runs in the family.

Rest your shoulders Peaches and Cream,
Everywhere a Judas as far as you can see.
Beautiful angel
Calling we got every re-run of Muhammed Ali.
Prism perfect,
Honey bring it close to my lips
Yeah.
What is termed a landslide of principle
Proportion boy it better be big boy.
Starfucker just like my Daddy,
Starfucker just like my Daddy
Just like my Daddy selling his baby.
Just like my Daddy.

Mother Mary,
China white.
Brown may be sweeter.
She will supply.
Brown may be sweeter
She will supply.

Give me peace and love.
Peace, love,
And a hard cock...

Ooo - scandalous!

Grrr. Indigo is brilliant its so kitsch its just, just... oh well.

One of my claims to fame is buying the AVH remix of Professional Widow the first time it was released - it didn't get in the charts. Then they re-released it and it got to number one. I was thirteen - I've always had such amazing taste. ah, well.

Just been for a jog with Jeff Buckley's Grace on my minidisc player it was really nice and relaxing, I usually put dancey stuff on to keep a rhythm but I think I'll try some more chilled stuff on...

Anyways: Right now:

Delays - Faded Seaside Glamour.

I'd recommend this to people on here. It's very Cocteausy

The Rolling Stones: 'Can't You Hear Me Knocking' and 'Rocks Off'.

Without a shadow of doubt, my two all-time favourite Stones songs. The first is just sleaze on toast, especially that funky jam at the end of the song, Mick Taylor proving he's the most underrated guitarist in the history of music, and the second is simply the best rock and roll tune ever, ever, EVER!!! It is impossible to stand still to this tune, absolutely impossible I tells you.

A diabolically brilliant Beach Boys compilation i put together: however, like most of my band/artist compilations, it can never be confined to one cd. In this case, The Beach Boys best of is a lovely double cd effort.

Less indulgent than my Rolling Stones one, which spanned five cds! And i had to cut songs out of that one to make sure it didn't spill over into a sixth. Eeek....

More specificaly, 'I'd Love Just once to See You', which is such a lovely, upbeat and happy song which has one of the best endings to a song ever.

'I'd love just once to see you....
I'd love just once to see you....
I'd love just once to see you.....

....in the nude.'

Should I? Should I? Should I? Should I? Should I? Should I? Should I lie?

Wow, that's cool! I've heard plenty of those rarities, and they are mostly all fantastic, especially the stuff from around the Never Forever/The Dreaming era. 'Warm and Soothing' is bloomin' so lovely it's almost painful, and that was the B-side to the lush 'December Will Be Magic Again' (why the latter song wasn't on the best of I'll never know), and 'The Empty Bullring', 'Ran Tan Waltz', 'Passing Through Air' and 'Lord of the Reedy River' are all stunning. She did great B-sides, shame they've become so difficult to get hold of.

Saying that, I swear i remember hearing that EMI will be re-releasing her albums with beefed-up sound and bonus tracks in the future, but i cant say for sure. So maybe investigate into that mooey, cos i know that box set is expensive stuff. Of course, i could make you a compilation of all the B-sides and post it to you if you so desire......

Listening to my favourite Kraftwerk album, Computer World.

Ooooo, I love that song! I remember dismissing it at first cos I adored the single they did before that ('Crystal', aka, the best comeback single EVER!), but it really, really grew on me after a while. Love the beat of it, and the 'devil round for tea' line is a peach, I agree! As is the one saying 'we can worship Pagan idols'!

It's an amazing album...I made a brilliant find on a local flea market last week, bought both Wild Honey and Holland on vinyl on ultra low prices! Both are fantastic albums, but I think I prefer Wild Honey.

Now it's something completely different, Secret Side by Nico...very hypnotic sounding, as a lot of her work is.

69 Année Erotique by Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin, officially one of my favourite songs ever! I even prefer it from Je t'aime...moi non plus. I don't know what exactly is it I love so much about this track, maybe it's its repetitive piano line and generally luscious sound...and the fact that Jane Birkin only sings in the chorus!:D

The Libertines are on my college radio station right now. Now something I don't recognize (most of the the time this station is on automatic, so they don't say what they play--a big failing in my humble but correct opinion). They played Scissor Sisters a while ago, so they play some stuff from the other side of the big ditch.
But no Goldfrapp anywhere is to be found on the air in this market, as far as I can tell.

Been plodding my way through the back numbers of this thread. Aztec Camera's HLHR was mentioned. I just got that on lp from a second hand store Saturday. I am back to buying vinyl again.

Ahhh, cos I was reading the book on the train and it goes on page 155:

'You've got to dance like no one else is watching, dream like you will live for ever, live like you're going to die tomorrow, love like it's never going to hurt....'

And i thought, 'wait a bloomin minute, that sounds familiar!'

Listening to Brian Eno's 'King's Lead Hat' which is pop music given the bonkers treatment. I love it.

And sorry to bring up the Rachel Stevens debate again, but i just had to say that as good as the tune is (I really think it's good stuff), 'Some Girls' was on in HMV earlier today and she's got a fucking terrible voice! I don't know why it didn't hit me as blatantly before as it did today, but god she sounded weak and not sexy at all. Did the tune no justice. She looks lovely on the cover of the reissue of her album though.

Hey Tatt!!!

ANOTHER Frazier fan!... There are a fair few popping up on my band's forum:

http://www.technostalgictunes.com/board

Check out the "Top Ten" category on the "Not Sundae Club" section! The keyboard player from Frazier went on to marry Alan McGee, so I guess her financial worries are over!!... She's also playing in a new band, CLIENT with Dubstar's Sarah Blackwood. They recently supported Jake Shillingford's Exile Inside (his follow-up band to My Life Story)

The offending car is identical to mine, but I couldn't get a pic of mine to upload. It is truly beautiful and I love it, but a constant battle against leaky hydraulics mars the ownership experience a bit!

I'm interested in the way words eventually change their meaning because of them being used for another purpose, leading to the original meaning of the word becoming obsolete - which (stay with me) is what is happening to the word 'heroine', I'm trying to turn it on its head and do a sort of love song whereas the onject of my desire is like the drug. However, the song is shit, the last paragraph was a waste of time and I'm listening to:

As summer draws to a close and the nights are drawing ever so slowly in, I'm listening to this song cos it's such a brilliant summer song: makes me wanna pull up a chair, watch the sun go down, sip on a nice cool drink and just let the evening take its course.

I'll be listening to this song a lot in the winter, I'll bet, wanting summer to arrive and imagining that weather-wise, it's going to be the perfect one in my head. It never is though: bafflingly, Spetember's been gorgeous with the weather, and ironically, will probably be consistently better than the last three months in terms of sunshine.

No, its what I'm listening to now. I got it off a link on here, probably where you got it. I like it because the songs sound really raw because they're not used to playing them live yet. Ali really fucks up on 'Twist' repeatedly singing a different line to the backing track.

It's interesting to compare these gigs to what they do now, especially with the ultra polished strict-machine with the 'We Are Glitter' intro.

You know I did download it from Davids site (I think) in the middle of 2003 .. so it may be a different concert .. but still, it is a cracker!!
