View Full Version : LaunchCast Radio
Trembler just introduced me to this... it's great! You give it an idea of what you want to listen to, and it lets you rate each track as you listen to it!
So far, I've had:
Billy Idol With Generation X - Dancing With Myself
Pinetop Perkins - Got My Mojo Working
Coldplay - Trouble
Radiohead - There There (Edit)
The Smiths - Panic
Pink Floyd - Mother
Daft Punk - Revolution 909
Johnny Cash - It Ain't Me, Babe
Air - All I Need
Four Tet - As Serious As Your Life
Goldfrapp - Black Cherry (YAY!!)
Orbital - Remind
Aphex Twin - On
and I'm currently listening to Massive Attack - Karmacoma
If anyone wants to give it a go, you need a Yahoo! ID (email address, messenger) and go to http://launch.yahoo.com/default.asp to get started...
There are a couple of adds here and there, but it really is a great idea!
It's great, isn't it! I've had one for about five months now. The radio channels around here are really boring, so the launch thing really comes to use for me. I've also convinced one of my friends to listen to my channel, and she does it almost daily now, which is nice, I've always liked brainwashing people into listening to my favourite music :D !

Ok, i'm listening to this now, and it's started off very nicely: 'Comfortably numb' by Pink Floyd.
Then: REM- Fireplace
And now: Goldfrapp: Crystalline Green! Mmmm, reminds me of summer.
Then 'Ramble On' by Led Zeppelin? Wow!
This is the best radio station ever. Well, it would be. I picked the groups that get played. Bwah-ha-ha!
Scritti Politti: Perfect Way. Pleasure overload.
Alright, this is the last song I'm going to mention, but Japan's 'Ghosts'? Couldn't let that go unmentioned.
I know! I've been listening to today as well, and it's been pretty well spot on - even with the ones I hadn't heard before... :D
yeah, I've had one for about a year now, its alright, but lots of stuff they dont have

ooo...ill have to listen to it later...:D
If listening to LAUNCHcast stations, I'd recommend setting-up your own. The basic service is free, you'll get to rate what you hear, thereby, starting to create your own station and you'll be able to skip tracks (only five skips per hour, so be selective).

'Play-on-demand' it ain't and licencing agreements between Yahoo! and record-co' preclude it from being so. It's taken 12,000 ratings to get my station to sound as good as it does.
Sorry, there is some work invloved. The work is easier with broadband and a LAUNCHcast Plus subscription (only available with BT, in the UK, so I don't have it). The work is more pleasurable by finding other, more mature, stations that fit your taste and tuning to them and rating what you hear.

Queeny -
Did you check-out my play lists (http://TinyURL.Com/6jgbe) from last night?
Do your ratings appear next to songs?
Can these be used for direct rating, or must one click-through to the track/song-page?

If you find a LAUNCHcast station playing Goldfrapp, I've made a dedicated Inernet Radio Stations Playing Goldfrapp thread (http://www.goldfrapp.co.uk/msgboard/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2511) :)

Mine's just pulled 'Such Great Heights' by the Postal Service out of the bag.
What a song. What a band.
