I know there's quite a few Mode fans on here so I'll apologise to them all now - you gotta love 80's female backing vocals :p
yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.........ICK. Those vocals are brutal, but are you sure the vocal tracks weren't added on by someone else later? I mean it's quite rare for DM to bring in outside vocals, they've never done that

That's probably the most positive way to look at it.

....and this one IS 'really legal' !
Britney Spears - "Breathe"
Unreleased James Holden remixes - 126bpm D min (http://www.mediafire.com/?0yzm02zzjyz)
May seem an odd thing for me to be upping a zip file with two Britney mixes in but, as mentioned elsewhere, I grabbed them for a whole different reason. They are two mixes done by James Holden that were never released when the single was shelved by the label - a smouldering progressive tech vocal & a deep extra-tooled glitch tech dub. He has pushed them out for people to enjoy in 320k MP3.
As is usual for Holden (& the entire Border Community label in general) these are huge slabs of inventive, progressive tech and quite, quite genius. I've seen Holden's promo Depeche Mode mixes get dropped somewhere and it kicked off big style! I also know a good few of you dig him & the label so would get a kick out of them.
Go on, give 'em a go - you're curious now, aren't you, even though it has the Spears name on it :D ;)
Yeah, even you, rewak ;):p
Im a real fan of James Holdens work.. has me dancing my pants off usually .. Thanks Carpy for finding the Spears .. dances off :)

I've decided to put up some Public Enemy. Rap? yes RAP. For all you naysayers out there (I can't believe I'm doing this, but it has to be done), these guys are icons and proves what rap can be....innovative, edgy, political, intelligent, rebellious. Plus the amazing vocals of Chuck D.

Where You Go I Go Too

I just went out for an early walk around the city, having put this on my player without any previewing, and I can honestly say that I was grinning like a Cheshire Cat in a way I've not done due to music for years. I've not heard an album like this since maybe the mid 70's - it's just stupidly audacious to not only put this out now but to nail it wonderfully.
Imagine a blender full of Jean Michel Jarre, Vangelis, Cerrone's "Supernature", Michael Jackson's classic funk pop beats (you know, back when he was still good) and then blitz them into a three track smoothie with a 28min first track, 10min second one and a final on of 16min. Huge chunks of morphing and pulsing.
I've just read a quote elsewhere that somebody thinks it's "the logical extension of wishing that "Supernature" and "Oxygene" were the same song and that it took up a full album side" - that's pretty spot on !
A lot of you guys will really like this, trust me, and I'd suggest listening to it for the first time while out in the city just wandering round.

When you said it's a kind of duet it sounded much more promising. It's good for a fan remix and can definately compete with other remixers but it's not my cup of tea. Without this dramatic piano up-and-down the song loses its heart.

It's a glorious 8min 37secs and totally legal as the band have shared it themselves. Go on, give it a try. If you like a bit of Porcupine Tree, Floyd, mid-era Radiohead or even just great music then you'll be fine.

Music and pictures today!
Just had two EP's from bands in Beijing and they're both cracking. Seems the scene over there is really picking up the pace in the last year. Time to share, therefore.
Lonely China Day - "One"
Yes, China has a fledgling post-rock scene and yes, it's going to be brilliant. This is a really smouldering track accompanied by a simple yet mesmerising video.
Rebuilding The Rights Of Statues - "TV Show (Hang The Police)"
Has China moved forward? Well, if it allows tracks titled like this then I guess in some areas it must have. If you like Joy Division, Banshees and that post-punk sound then you'll be absolutely loving this. One of my tracks of the year so far by a very long stretch, complete with a massively strong video.
Both videos here (http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=06446f04d15ffe64ab1eab3e9fa335ca0c3ec9c2 7ac6af70)
I'd love some comments on these as I'm pretty sure a few folks on here (ruby, Hypermanic, Stephanie and others) will really like them

Amiina - Kurr (http://www.zshare.net/download/178415943e042b41/)
Amiina are four amazingly sweet Icelandic ladies in their twenties who've done practically all the strings on the Sigur Rós albums and they also tour with them. They've also played with Efterklang.
Kurr is their debut album as a real band, released in 2007.
It's string music (violins & cello) combined with vocals, brass and other undefined noises.
It's pretty calm and easy, yet very very beautiful.
Please listen to this, I think it's really worth listening to.
Enjoy.

I'd love some comments on these as I'm pretty sure a few folks on here (ruby, Hypermanic, Stephanie and others) will really like them
I really enjoyed these. The songs *and* the videos are pretty damn good (and how difficult is that to come by...as usually if the song is good the video is awful...it's Murphy's Law). Although I have to say the vocals sung in Mandarin on Lonely China Day have to grow on me. The monosyllabic nature of Mandarin tends to really grate on me I'm afraid. I'm shocked that they could produce a song and video called "Hang the police" You'd think the Chinese government would have thrown them in jail for that!
Good stuff, really liking it...

By all accounts, they submitted an "accidentally inaccurate" English translation to the official lyric censor (yes, there is one) and they said it was fine. "See the police, they are laughing" etc. Not entirely sure what happens once it becomes obvious that has happened though :D

At work now. Will be at my home PC later.......
.....and so will these files shortly afterwards :p
Top work, sir !
Just 45 second samples of each track, but it is sounding like a great album! I'm still in two minds about ordering the import from Japan. It does come with a new live DVD, but it's quite expensive for something that might be released here later with extra stuff.

There's also a thriving group of Adreena bootlegs sharers dotted about so I'm sure the live show will turn up by that route if not....
It's nothing special, 16 minutes, 6 tracks (none new), incomplete gig. The Ruby Throat DVD was incomplete too, after months of delays, bloody annoying all these incomplete gig DVD's!
Here's my filtered acapella of Tiptoe again, but cleaned up a little to get rid of some of the noise in it.

By total coincidence, here's a record from that very label!
[URL="http://www.zshare.net/audio/203933780dc21556/"]Akron/Family - "Ed Is A Portal" (http://www.mediafire.com/?3jktmzi2m4j)
Is this doesn't make you dance round the room like a grinning loon then there is no hope for you OR your ears have fallen off. Seventh Tree fans may like to have a listen especially, the 'track within a track' that pops up part way through is a perfect ST sound. Oh, and there's the ambient electro finish too. Lots of stuff to enjoy !

<3 Akron/Family, they make me happy.
i have a major love/hate relationship with devendra banhart, i like his music and everything associated with him, but when i see him in interviews i want to punch him. he just lacks the modesty that people like cocorosie, joanna newsom and vashti bunyan have. i don't know whether that's down to his childlike-ness. or maybe he just thinks he's awesome.

I have every intention of buying CDs from the artists I love but I don't intend on paying close to 20 bucks for a CD that I might only listen to 2 to 3 songs.
Justice Cross for example... severely disappointing with the exception of Stress, Waters of Nazareth, and DVNO. The rest was shit!

For Peppermintpig >>> poke me (http://rapidshare.com/files/177885722/BBC_Sessions_Disc_2.zip.html)
CT BBC Session disc 2: Tracks 8-14 so you can revisit the M&K era with a new perspective. It might not be quite the same monstrous difference I experienced, as I hadn't heard the originals first, but it has to at least be a big improvement ;)
If you click on this and your name is not Peppermintpig then you will be turned into a cheap Lidl cake and be eaten by a clinically obese person who hates you and calls you a teasing whore-slut cake as he munches on your dryness with his filthy giant mouth.
And here (http://rapidshare.com/files/177927832/BBC_Sessions_Disc_2_prt1.zip.html) is the other part of the CD, tracks 1-7.
But listen to the second part/first link first as this is what lead to my 'WTF' moment and much disappointment the first time I heard the Milk & Kisses album.

Possibly! The parents are off to New Zealand next year and they don't want to take all of them, and my sister probably won't be able to afford them, so you could take Bail and Clio.
It was either that or they have to make their own way to NZ in an epic quest where they discover the ability to talk using the voices of famous actors whilst learning important moral lessons about themselves as they escape perilous situation after perilous situation.
All of the above info is likely to change, because nothing ever works as it should in this house.

:( :( :( :( :(
The links don't work!

OK, Piggy-tears. What do you mean, exactly, by 'the links don't work' ? Cos I just downloaded it myself and opened the folder without a problem
Doing so I discovered that I actually uploaded tracks 7-14 by mistake. Should be 8-14, so ignore 7. Even though it's a wonderful number. Anyway - tell me exactly what doesn't work or what message you get and where, then I can maybe rectify or retry using another method. Or just send you the damn CD...

Edit: Part 2 on the way.
I nearly forgot to say a massive thanks for this! I haven't been to fat-pie for years and had no idea the guy behind SF had done any music stuff at all. So after listening to this I had a little visit and discovered you can download SEVEN albums of his, totally free.
Have only listened to the Felt Crayons album and some of Dead Wasps so far but really like it. A bit like a cheaper/playschool version of Add N to (X). Which was a nice surprise.

Some of you, having spent an hour with this, will understand why I think the Raster Noton label is as important in the history of electronic music/sound as many of the famous names that came before them. You'll get locked into the blips & clangs, finding a bit of boogie amongst the bytes. Everything you hear is intentional & necessary, micro & macro. It is, to me, nothing short of the Kling Klang for this point in time.
Some of you will shrug and miss it all completely.
Such is life. Everything is binary.
the Raster Noton label
a compilation (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=1LVXTZ9P)
1. Ryoji Ikeda - Trans-missions (“1000 Fragments” 1995/2008)
2. Cyclo - C3 (“Cyclo” 2001)
3. Byetone - Plastic Star (“Plastic Star” 2008)
4. Mitchell Akiyama - Big Sur (“Temporary Music” 2002)
5. Signal - Robotron (“Robotron” 2007)
6. Modul - Shift I (“Isol” 2004)
7. Robert Lippok - Open (“Open Close Open” 2001)
8. Mokira - Palm (“Cliphop” 2001)
9. Frank Bretschneider - Other Days, Other Eyes (“Rhythm” 2007)
10. Pommassl - Pestrepeller (“Spare Parts” 2007)
11. COH - Path#4 (“Patherns” 2006)
12. Alva Noto + Ryuichi Sakamoto - Duoon (“Vrioon” 2003)
13. Kangding Ray - Interrompu Court (“Stabil” 2006)
Raster-Noton is a German electronic music record label founded in 1996 by Olaf Bender, Carsten Nicolai and Frank Bretschneider. Based in Chemnitz, Germany, Raster-Noton merged in 1999 from separate labels Rastermusik and Noton (Archiv für Ton und Nichtton).
The collective label's aesthetic focus is rhythmic, minimal electronic music alternating between playful pop and introspection, partnered with unconventional and equally minimal packaging design.

It's funny most people don't know anything about this these early home made albums. So i've done a little 'best of' the 6 albums from the set focusing on the quiet and sparse ones. They really are magic.

I'll never forget his sessions for Radcliffe/Riley's radio show Out On Blue 6, always ending songs on the wrong chord ie. "I'm sooooo luckyyyyyy - juuuuust like Kylieeeee..... BUGGER IT!" :D
To be fair you have the best 2 albums but there's some great stuff on the others. The box set (5 albums + an album of unreleased stuff!) is going for £15 these days so is a bargin. :-)
Bought 'Stephen Jones - 1985 - 2001' (http://www.discogs.com/Stephen-Jones-1985-2001/release/203241) a while ago. It's his soundtrack stuff, really good and the tiny fold-out packaging is cracker.
