For (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=D3XJ6DLH)

01
Avus - Furry Hat
Brooding classy tech from the ultra on-it Border Community imprint.
If it's on BC you can't get a higher seal of quality.

02
Depeche Mode - Never Let Me Down Again (Digitalism Remix)
Big and dirty mashing of the DM classic - dare I say choon?

03
Android Lust - Dragonfly
Shikhee sings and plays on this incredibly precise electro-industrial outpouring.

04
Swans - Better Than You
Almost impossible to pick one track when Swans had so many classics.
The Gira vocal swung this one.

05
Paul Hartnoll - Dust Motes
No electronics for the ex-Orbital brother - just a full orchestra and a 30 piece choir.
The quality shines through as much as ever for this rousing finish.

:)

Ohhhh, you've just reminded me how I have to load both of those albums onto my iPod (on/off). Off is the female vocal one right? There's one remix on the album that I love (I can't remember which album it is). Where the sounds go in and out of both speakers. It totally rocks and I've been sooooooo tempted to go to a Audio store with it and tell them that I'm insterested in their product but first need to "try out" their system with this CD. Can you imagine their faces when the track starts up and they're running around trying to figure out what's wrong with their speakers! :D

aw cool, its such a great album.

its really annoying to see every single they release bomb SO badly over here in the UK. I Get Around got to 97 or so, and Take It Like A Man got to 122!! thats shocking, the songs are so great!

Shpongle - Nothing Lasts... But Nothing is Lost (Twisted, 2005)
Nothing Lasts... But Nothing is Lost is a 2005 album by Shpongle. It is the band's third studio album. Like the previous two albums, it features many live musicians and vocalists in combination with computer-generated sounds and spoken-word samples. Stylistically the album can be described as a fusion of world music, "intelligent dance music", and psychedelic trance. It is dedicated to the memory of author and psychedelic researcher Terence McKenna, whose voice and ideas are used throughout the album.
This Terrence McKenna dedicated album is being announced as the finale release from Simon Postford and Raja Ram…so already, if you’ve never listened to them, you’ve missed out on something very special. Listen to this and the first two Shpongle albums, that is if you’d like to have the greatest electronic experience of your life. Anyone you can find who has listened to these albums will back me up on this. It’s cathartic. 5/5

Ra - [i]Wxfdswxc2 (Sublight, 2007)
"Wxfdswxc2" is french artist Raoul Sinier's (aka Ra) second full length album the follow up to his debut "Raoul Loves You". "Wxfdswxc2" is 13 tracks of brilliant pop structured elements, overdriven noise guitar, killer synth arangments, dusty beats and catchy vocal bits and bobs not forgetting Ra's use of room recordings and ability to showcase live instruments. Ra is the definition of a renaissance man, his illustration, animation and music all enhance and fulfil one another seamlessly creating a world and genre unto itself, so much in fact we have decided to include an awesome bonus DVD (PAL format) in the first 500 copies of "Wxfdswxc2" that features music videos by Raoul Sinier from his new album "Wxfdswxc2" as well as his music video for planet mu artist dDamage, a collection of short films, music videos from Ra's debut album "Raoul Loves You", picture gallery, and plenty more. Prometheus - Corridor Of Mirrors (Twisted, 2007)
London’s leading trance export Twisted Records is out with their 31st release, Corridor Of Mirrors which is the second album from Hallucinogen-apprentice Prometheus (Benji Vaughan). Virtually everything that Benji has had his paws on has been ace – from the early Process collaborations to the epic Younger Brother album. From the gargantuan first Prometheus album Robot.O.Chan to the many stand-out compilation tracks on Twisted and TIP.World. Crystal Skulls material in particular.
Benji is a subliminal producer of both progressive, full-on and downbeat and I regard him as one of the most pivotal post-2000 UK trance personas. So yeah, I’m a huge fan and I’ve been a happy camper ever since this second album was released. Now let’s find out if it meets the expectations.

The Dragons - BFI (Ninja Tune, 2007)
There’s a moral behind the story of this release, which is ‘whatever you do - never throw away your master tapes’.

Recorded in California nearly 40 years ago by Doug, Daryl and Dennis Dragon, “Blue Forces Intelligence” is a miniature psychedelic soul/rock masterpiece. With the master tapes having been long forgotten and left to gather dust back in the late Sixties, it is through an interesting discovery by our influential mixologist Strictly Kev/DJ Food, that we are now pleased to be releasing it. Beautifully played and produced, it is full of crazy invention and has a loveably naive lack of self-consciousness, a lost classic of psych-whimsy, West Coast sexiness and serious musical chops. The long wait is nearly over!…surely we’re ready?

Released on Monday, this true psychedelic original is available to order on LP, CD or MP3 bundle now!

Available to buy from 27.08.07

Echaskech Skechbook (Just Music, 2007)
This is one of the most satisfying electronic releases I've heard this year, and I listen to a lot of this stuff.
Echaskech have absorbed a broad range of influences, since discovering the world of dance music. Very musical and melodic, reinforced with breakbeats, Skechbook contains acid lines and floor shaking bass in parts but not afraid of dropping the tempo way down and sending you drifting off in others, this great debut is the result of a long and winding musical climb. Echaskech have been steadily joining the dots from Kraftwerk to Street Sounds, from Acid House to Techno, developing an unstoppable understanding of dance rhythms. The result is an effortlessly flowing and inescapably powerful sound.Hey thanks alot for that - I've heard a few of [Bjorn Torske]'s remixes so shall look forward to listening to that one alot :)Any thoughts?

Noisettes "What's The Time Mr. Wolf?" (Vertigo, 2007)

Playing ragged but energetic garage-influenced indie rock with the ferocity of punk but with a soulful, bluesy edge, the Noisettes were founded by guitarist Dan Smith and singer/bassist Shingai Shoniwa, who previously worked together in the band Sonarfly. While the pair already had a working relationship, in the spring of 2003 they began getting together to write songs, and their new project fell into place when they met drummer Jamie Morrison, whose manic approach matched Smith and Shoniwa's brash, physical style but also left room for the latter's diva-gone-wild vocals. Adopting the name the Noisettes, the trio started playing out in late 2003, and in 2004 went into the studio to record a four-song EP, The Three Moods of the Noisettes. In early 2005, the disc was released by the U.K. independent label Side Salad Records, and attracted the attention of a number of well-known British acts, including Babyshambles, Bloc Party, and Muse, all of whom invited the group to tour with them. The disc also found appreciative ears at Universal Music, which signed the Noisettes to an international deal in 2006, releasing their material through Motown/Vertigo in Europe and Mercury in the United States. The group's debut album, What's the Time Mr. Wolf?, was released in February of 2007.

Odd Nosdam "Level Live Wires" (Anticon, 2007)

David Madson's Odd Nosdam turns his Level Live Wires album "On" with a wash of synths, then turns it "Off" precisely 40 minutes later in the same fashion. In between times, the sample master and found sound maestro entrances listeners with a collage of sounds, rhythms, and melodies, that coalesce into some of the most intriguing music you'll ever hear. Some of it's short and sharp, like "Blast," which seems to circle around a fuzzy radio wave emanating from the '60s, a blast from rock's past indeed. Others float off on warm, dozy thermals of synths, like "Fat Hooks," soaring ever higher on heavenly vocals. "The Kill Tone Two" is its urban version, which adds violin and rap vocals. "Burner," in contrast, is as aggressive as they come, built around a looped blaring horn, which, with the percussive booms and breaking glass, is actually the sound of a burning car, and Nosdam transforms it into an off-kilter piece, quavering with threat and anxiety, much like being caught in a mid-town traffic jam with a lunatic banging on your car hood, while Hood's Chris Adams' vocals try to bring a calming influence to the chaos. Skipping rhythms predominate, notably on "Kill Tone" and "Up in Flames," giving even the warmest and thickest synth filled atmospheres a ragged edge. That later number skips around genres as well, feeding in a slice of Latin flare and a shred of hip-hop scratching to the mix, as well as spoken word, a snippet of singing, and disco styled vocals, tossing in a bit of grand piano to boot. From blurry dub and chill to doom-laden pieces, ambient sweetness to street noise effects, Nosdam's sounds and samples swirl round and round, coalescing into ever more surprising aural shapes and moods. A fascinating musical ride that defies any attempt at categorization.

Danny Breaks "Transmit Fantastic EP" (Alphabet Zoo, 2006)
Danny is back with another dope 6 tracker of exotic samples matched with boom bap beats and skilled scratched exercises, includes the heavy “duck rock” another trademark analogue bass killer in “jellyfish” vein!
As the intro to this EP right says ‘Get ready for Breaks’ - Danny’s back on his Alphabet Zoo label with a the follow up to the excellent ‘Dimension’ series of the last 2 years. The formula is the same – simple yet effective production, with crisp drums and bouncy rhythms, tight cuts, deep basses, dreamy melodies and samples dug deep. The title track is a lovely laid back affair while ‘Duck Rock’ drops twisted basslines over funky breaks. ‘Hand Exercise’ parts 1 & 2 show off Danny’s cuts and the EP is rounded off with third part of ‘La La La La’. Danny Breaks keeps on proving that there can be a life after jungle and that he is by far one of the nicest producers in the UK.

Freezepop's Afterparty. It's a silly song, but has some kickass synth.

Afterparty (http://rapidshare.com/files/61393371/11_Afterparty.mp3.html)

One night he went out dancing
much too soon the night was done
so he asked some people over
they could keep on having fun

He said it's cool, invite some friends
a lot of people soon stopped by
The house was filled with strangers
he let everyone inside

Then things got a little crazy
a few more hours quickly passed
slowly people started leaving
he was up until the last

Standing in his living room
he surveyed all the mess
he gave up and went to bed
declaring his party a success

Getting ready the next morning
went to put some product in his hair
reached over to the bathroom shelf
but the bedhead wasn't there

He looked under the sink
blinked his eyes in disbelief
the bedhead was really gone
someone at the party was a theif

Bedhead is expensive
that was a shitty thing to do
don't drink someone else's beer
then swipe their belongings too

I wrote a song about stealing bikes
you know it's not entirely true
theft's a lot less awesome
when it's happening to you!

While the Alps' junkpile approach to classic rock via wasted echo-chamber vocals and lost-in-space mod guitars might sound like a bad trip to some, there's a real cohesion and weirdly tuneful vibe carried through the scuzz."

The Ace Of Clubs - Benefist (First Cask, 2007) (http://ikilledthedarkness.blogspot.com/2008/01/ace-of-clubs-benefist-first-cask-2007.html)

From ION Magazine:
Ace Of Clubs is the newest project from Luke Vibert, the inarguable genius who brought you Plug, Wagon Christ, Kerrier District, Amen Andrews, Spac Hand Luke, and probably a hundred others he’s just too busy to take credit for. Next to his buddy Aphex Twin, he’s about the biggest name and quality producer in the UK. As such, it’s never a question of it his new album is good, but is the style for me (personally, I don’t much care for the disco-y Kerrier District stuff). The Ace Of Clubs debut long player is a bouncy romp through the acid synth fields, touching base on mutant breakbeat and tweaked house with his signature punchy, round bass in check. Granted, there ain’t much to be found in the way of variety and new, innovating sounds, but it’s Vibert we’re talking about here. That’s all I really need to say. There’s no confusing his sound for anyone else’s. He invented that shit. Analog or bust, baby. Respect.

yeah, this is well after she went off the deep end and adopted some sort of strange pseudo-spanish accent. i'm not sure, but i bet it's the last recording ever made from her, seeing as she died in '87 and this was made in 1980. she stopped recording for cello in the early or mid-70's. it's a deutsche grammophon recording with the english chamber orchestra conducted by (who else when it comes to du pre...) daniel barenboim.

i see it occasionally on ebay, but it goes for quite a bit.

It's a late 80's night out like we used to have - if we didn't get bruised to it on more than one occasion then it's not going in. Flailing arms, dodgy frilly sleeves and over-the-top hair....and that was just the blokes! If you ever went to Pews or The Fridge in Shrewsbury, Shropshire then this WAS a selection of your typical night out choons. Where extended versions or mixes were chosen it's because these were the 12" spun by the DJ and the ones jammed in your head.

Some of you will dig this and Mr Piiiiiiiig will love it. That's a pre-emptive FACT! ;)

For fans of the perfect techno tune, Orbital's brown phase, Plastikman, the Border Community label, Fairmont, James Holden or just something to *romer to - grab this, fire it up as loud as you can and start dancing from the off so that when that line pushes in you're all ready to go crackers. You can thank me later ;)

I came across this band when I read a description of their music...

"..like a cross between old Goldfrapp and Nancy Sinatra." It's Orchestral Pop and stuff.....

The womans vocals ruin it, as do the lyrics, her voice wavers and tries to be something it's not, the music is so sweeping and very..um.."Time Out From the World"

They've also been described as a cross between The Beatles and Massive Attack and people say they could write the next Bond theme and yadda blah blah :)

For a better HQ version of this song travel to their website for a stream.

Mono In VCF - Escape City Scrapers (http://www.sendspace.com/file/bx2919)

I couldn't find them on Amazon or Play, you can only buy their album from their online shop or digitally.

Younger Brother - "Last Days Of Gravity"
(Carpy's two track sampler)

14283

>>LINK<< (http://www.mediafire.com/?zfrm8zwmt41)

"All I want"

It shouldn't work, it really shouldn't. Part Future Sound Of London, part Pink Floyd, part Jean Michel Jarre, part "Popcorn" and yet mostly played on real instruments with a gorgeous indie English/French dual vocal...........and a slide guitar ! Country prog trance, anybody? :D

"Psychic Gibbon"

Aside from one of the best track titles ever, the  factor of being two minutes into a relaxingly light electronic trance track when a bass guitar worthy of most of the Cure's back catalogue slides in is just marvellous. Grin on face time. Add to that the mixture of great vocal cut-ups & other real instruments that kick in and carry the track onwards and it's a winner.

As ever, I'd be interested in comments!

The last thing I heard her on was one of Current 93's album, doing vocals on "When Rome Falls" amongst other things. This is yet another gain for me in my constant quest to own everything that features a member of Strawberry Switchblade or producer David Motion, who is the most underrated producer of pop music in the world ever.
