hey!
hows it goin ? we have finally emerged from an intense period of work and i’m pleased i can now tell you about it (as it is official). we have written the score for a film called “Nowhere boy”. it’s about John Lennon as a boy and stars Aaron Johnson, Kristen Scott-Thomas and Anne Marie Duff. it’s Sam Taylor-Wood’s first feature film and it’s truly amazing that they gave us the oppotunity to do this. we are all really excited about going to abbey road studios soon to record the strings with the full orchestra. the film is closing the london film festival and is premiered on 29th october at odeon leicester square. now our work on the film is almost finished, we will carry on writing the Goldfrapp album.
what a beautiful day it was today, i hope there’s more of that gorgeous autumnal sunshine over the weekend.
love to you all and catch up soonxxxxA
Sounds great! Can’t wait to hear it. Keep up the good work A & W.

I’ve never posted anything on here before so it may come out sounding irrelevent or even irreverent…the point is about listening to Seventh Tree in a different place/environment to what I normally would. So, after getting back from Cornwall (I live up North), stopped off in Somerset in a gorgeous orchard, and put Seventh Tree on my headphones…and it made ten times more sense than on first listen, and first listen was estatic enough for me….it all made sense…eating sweet apples, sketching pictures of the orchard ( I wanted to freeze the moment in time and have a non-technological reminder). As we pulled away from the orchard, taste of apples still in my mouth, the album was drawing to a close…The first chorus to Monster Love hit me, and happy tears fell…I added a comment to my pencil sketch “I’d rather be a sentimental fool than a smart glacier”. That was Saturday, September 19, 2009, A day that will stay with me forever. Will and Alison, I can’t thank you enough xxxx

To Alison Goldfrapp:
You are one of my all time favorite Vocal Trance/Electronica artists. Your music is so amazing, so intense, so deep in its meaning, such a quality sound. It really gets my blood pumping. I feel you girl! I am listening to your music now..Oh by the way, the video for “Ride a White Horse” was really really good but the video for “Number One” is so artistic and amazing! You are a true artist- and I don’t just mean “Singer” when i say artist- I am referring to the whole package, the Aesthetic value to your music and your videos. Just wtahcing the videos gives creedence to your obvious artistic mind and vision and it is simply amazing, beautiful, intense, emotional, and inspiring, I love to sing along with you to “Number 1″. I can emulate your voice very well , even though I am a male! LOL! One last compliment here- you are a true diva! So young and so stylish and beautiful, and artistic (your look..but no worries i am gay so that’s no come on!) The fact that you responded to a few of your fans who posted a comment to you makes me love the whole Goldfrapp thing even more. that is keepin it real. You are the standard for women and drag queens the world over! Keep up the amazing work!

Do you support Team Katie or Team Peter or do you actually give a monkeys about either of them? Would be interesting to know, every bloody newspaper or magazine is about Jordan this or Jordan that. Personally, i cant stand her.

Some of the impatient posts from fellow fans “We want it now!!” can get me a bit worried. I know we are all a bit excited… we love Alison & Will’s music… but hey, ease off with the pressure. This is fantastic news, for lots of reasons, far too many to mention. I’m still reeling from 7th Tree to be honest, everytime I listen to it I discover a new layer. It’s an onion of an album !
Seriously, though, it’s not just about the music (for me), it’s the signification, and the attitude. After hearing(and seeing) Will in the “Morning becomes eclectic” interview (it may have been Canadian radio, or possibly Seattle), on YouTube, he was being meek (as ever), hoping his “attempts” at psychadelia (his words, or near enough), were worthy (or something like that). So humble, but sooooooo not neccessary (although it was refreshing to witness genuine talent without ego.
When I first discovered psychadelia, in the early nineties, it was through the likes of Spacemen 3, and I thought that no other music could take me to the places that this music had took me.
18 years later (i.e. the other day), I discovered a previously unviewed/unheard clip from the Electric Proms (How I missed that one, I’ll never know…). It was a blistering 7+ minute rendition of ‘Little Bird’. Wicker-masked choir, shimmering harp, eternal feedback guitar, mind-blowing vocal gymnastics, accomplished string arrangements, and of course blissed out Davide and Will !
So, 18 years later, and the game has been raised. I never thought I’d say this, but…..Jason Spaceman, Sonic Boom……READ ‘EM AND WEEP!!!
I know the music took me higher when I saw this clip, because I actually experienced a musical comedown afterwards….boy did I crash….but worth the fall.
Will and Alison…Keep on keeping on. Wicca wishes with wine will win (?)

Hi Alison & Will & all the fans…
I got to thinking since I’ve been reading this blog… are Goldfrapp going to be releasing a DVD of video clips anytime in the future? I love my 2DVD set of “Live at Somerset House” & “Live at Sheperd’s Bush Empire”. Every now and then I get my little fix of the concerts but I long for a music video compilation.
Living in Australia where Goldfrapp haven’t had a huge amount of hits it’s difficult to catch promo’s on TV. If it weren’t for YouTube I would never get to see them at all. I love the video’s for “Number 1″, “Ooh La La” and “Strict Machine”… So, so clever. And “Happiness” is wonderful too. It must be hard work dreaming up the imagery. To exaggerate regular people into wonderful characters must be like a dream job come true… I’m thinking Madonna, Kylie Minogue and other successful entertainers must gulp with envy when they see and hear the work of Goldfrapp.
Oh, another question… I read how Goldfrapp believed that the sexuality was taking over the music?? In my opinion I always thought some of your tracks were quite sensual but never blatantly sexual… showing some leg and wearing a bit of make up to my mind doesn’t make me think of Alison Goldfrapp as some kind of hussy. I just see you looking beautiful… like say, Donna Summer and the girls of ABBA [in there hey day]… No shame in looking beautiful.
Now that I’ve finished my blurb [hehe]… wishing you happiness
LOVE YA… Raymond in Australia SUMMER IS COMING! BLUE SKIES AT LAST!

Dear Alison,
I just spent an hour writing you a short message from the heart, and the Internet decided that I took too long and deleted it all before I could post it. How lovely. Well, let us see if I can remember at least the important parts of my last reply. I have been following you since I was, oh, 18. I am 24 now so I don’t know if that was at the beginning or towards the middle, lets just say once I heard you, you have never left my bedside. I am from the states, California. I understand that seventh tree had some doing around here. I swooned over felt mountain, found your Olivia newton john “physical” cover, devoted my favorite song to black cherry from the “Back Cherry” album, saw you twice on tour in San Francisco where i was living during supernaure (got a bit pissed at the party gays and lez that didn’t know any of the original two albums at the Fillmore and pushed me to the side that night), and was delighted at the arrival of seventhtree. I have watched you on YouTube (we don’t get he BBC or UK radio shows here). I have always admired your way of dealing with being in the public eye. You did conform a bit in the beginning with your cake making and I don’t know much about that show that makes you pick things out of a tool box. But, you have always kept your personal dignity and grace about you in every public appearance you have ever done and that I completely and whole heartily admire about you. I mean, that bit with Ashly Simpson with those twits from the pussycat dolls and such… everyone was God awful. All in all, I love you and all you stand for. Please, never change a thing, I will support you till the end of time.
(I’m not sure if you even read these comments, so, unfortunately, being an American and all I want is the self assurance you are going to see this and I can at least boost your self esteem half a point so don’t be upset if I have copied and pasted this in a number of places. I mean I am American and I have heard that we are lazy after all)
all my love

I’m looking forward to seeing the film and hearing the soundtrack (will it be available to buy?) It’ll be an intriguing combination! I was also moved – a truly great film. Ms Goldfrap and Mr Gregory arrived in Leicester Square last night before the screening and were greeted by producer, Douglas Rea. A short televised interview was beamed, “delayed live” inside onto the Odeon’s big screen and both Alison and Will appeared very happy to be there. Alison seemed so petit next to Will the giant, both in very nice black numbers!. Photos taken on the red carpet can be seen at http://www.gettyimages.co.uk The score fitted the film exceptionally well I thought and according to the credits, the soundtrack “is” available on Sony although I guess it won’t be until Nowhere Boy is on general release after Christmas – can’t wait!

Hello from France. I have discovered that Goldfrapp is not yet as well known as you should be in my country. I am doing promotion to my “network” to show how special are your voice, music, texts, what you represent.
Thank you for that and pleased to share this with my friends and “connections”.

Last night I dreamt your sound-track was being produced by the rather fabulous Anne Dudley… who does fantastic orchestration, brilliant production, and has been nominated more times for an Oscar for best soundtrack than I care to mention (and she won one as well)…
It’d be such a lush opulent production… Anne Dudley… Goldfrapp… Abbey Road…
*Sigh*
I am creaming my panties in anticipation… (Well, they are Agent Provocateur!)

Very interesting project - I hope the film does Lennon justice (whatever that is). Just discovered the blog. I’m lost in the 60s, so it takes real potent music and images to break through to my cranium. Goldfrapp definitely does that. I have been on the hook since Felt Mountain. Have you either listened to United States of America (the band)? Some parallelism, maybe.

Further to the release of the new John Lennon film ’Nowhere Boy’ which briefly features the famous gates outside the Strawberry Field Home generally accepted as the inspiration for the famous Beatles song Ive resurrected my painting interest and this yr completed 2 works of the Home in Beaconsfield Rd as it was perhaps perceived by a young John Lennon in the early 50’s . Ive tried to interpret with considerable research accuracy Johns early affinity of the home and grounds he played in as a child and the connection with Strawberry Fields memorial in Central Park NY set up by Yoko Ono in 1984 which mentions the original home. My website http://www.strawberryfieldsart.com shows the paintings and describes a little more historical detail. I also grew up at the same time in a nearby area and believe the famous gates and the original Victorian Home which I remember as a boy have never been depicted as a painting.. Im looking forward very much to seeing the film… Kevin
