im zooming through clouds looking down on craggy crevices, large patches of green, brown and blue, as im getting closer it becomes clearer where im heading, it looks beautiful. my eye is like google earth. i stop mid air to see what the name is written on top of a hill, it says isle of arran. why have i arrived here? so then im in a boat on what i guess is a loch drifting through mist. its warm and the sun is trying to get through, then i wake. its 6.00am. my brain is rattling so i make a cup of tea, read for a bit, lie around, bathe and after having a huge breakfast and engaging in some………… its now 10.00am.
im finally out of the robot leg, maybe i could hire it out or something? fancy dress? could be quite fashionable if worn at the discoteque?. went to the premier of inglorious bastards. tarantino introduced the film by screaming down the microphone like a crazy madman which was quite funny and probably gave us an insight to what being directed by him is like? it started off well i thought and it looked great. very witty in places, good acting and great music. then i started getting bored, but im not sure why? mabe because typically of tarantino there was an abundance of comedic gratuitous violence. it was all going nowhere and left me feeling depressed. ultimately the whole thing seemed completly pointless? anyway i was glad i went and limped to a taxi in my new shoes, my left foot looking like a bacon bun.
i arrived back last night from a week in bath, missed out a day of swimming because a child puked in the pool and they spent 24hrs decontaminating the water. we had a productive week and i think its safe to say this album is gonna be a lot more up than the last, reckon its gonna be really fun to play this one live. dont get me wrong i loved playing the last one too, but this will be a different kind of fun. i cant wait !
my beloved cat has just puked up, whats goin on? here he is looking not so pukey and one of Dav, charlie and myself on Venice beach. have a great weekend! love xxxxxxxxA

I am so excited at just the little mention of the new album! So excited I could puke in a pool!!
Very lyrical opening to the messag too…is it perhaps hints of new album lyrics and jamming sessions? Or just an urge to be surreal? Either way I’m pleased lol
Comment by Mitch Day — Saturday, July 25, 2009 @ 2:33 pm
Engaging in some…..? Is that when the cat puked? Why is there always grass in cat puke? The new album sounds intriguing. Perhaps another Bexhill gig? It seems so long ago now.

You should sign your “leg” and sell it on eBay
Was it a fur ball that your cat puked? Because occasional fur balls are normal (especially in this breed of cats).

Your cat is sooo adorable, I want a kitty now =[
The other image is hilarious by the way, I love how the press tries to portray you as an ice queen yet these pictures and blog posts show completely other wise.

Hey Allison! The new album news is great! I’m flying into London from the states on Monday (first time). Thanks for the tip on the Tarantino movie, no need to risk Swine Flu for silly gratuitious violence lol… However Field Day, thats definately worth losing my lungs over…
Comment by AustinS — Saturday, July 25, 2009 @ 4:20 pm
Ack! Damn “l”, Sorry for mispelling, Alison.. I know better than that
Comment by AustinS — Saturday, July 25, 2009 @ 4:24 pm
Ultimately the majority of Tarantino’s films have become pointless. I was extremely disappointed with “Death Proof” and the whole “Kill Bill” genre as well, and will most likely skip this film since I’m tired of anything remotely to do with Nazi Germany (video games included). Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs were his only decent films.
On a lighter note, kids will always make a mess of things at a public swimming pool. I do Public Health work and many times I’ve had to go in and open the pool once it has been cleaned as the result of a ‘brown out’ (self explanatory). It’s why I prefer to stay dry!
Comment by Blackrustedvan — Saturday, July 25, 2009 @ 4:24 pm
And speaking of kitties - don’t ever let singer Dale Bozzio of “Missing Persons” fame babysit your cat when you’re away. Google search it if you want to know why!
Comment by Blackrustedvan — Saturday, July 25, 2009 @ 4:26 pm
I swim daily too, so I understand how horrible it is to miss a day of it! It seems like the new album is going to be fantastic! Seventh Tree is extremely fun to listen to (especially Houdini) so I can only imagine how great this next one is going to be.
Thank you for doing this blog. Take care!

Hey
It’s great to tkink you went to the premier of inglorious basterds. Well it’s true there is an abundance of gratuitous violence in Tarantino’s movies but i think the only which was pointless that i saw is Kill Bill (but i didn’t see Inglorious basterds). Death Proof and Pulp Fiction are very great. I could imagine some music of Goldfrapp on Tarantino’s movies because of the girl power expressed in its.
Oh! And i’m really happy to know you work on a new album! I can’t wait! It’s already too long…
Hope Will Gregory and you are fine
Thanks for the music

I hope to some day be as much of a morning person as you, Alison! All sounds great, to hear of the natural fluctuation of your music styles. I love how your music has progressed. Each album compliments each other so well. Seventh Tree has to be one of the best albums of all time to me. I can even begin to tell where it’s taken me. I visited friends in Stroud at the new year and couldn’t wait to prance about the Cotswolds at after listening to Seventh Tree. Unfortunately it was a bit too frosty to do so.
little moggy is adorable.
I hope to see you live finally with this next album’s tour if not in when visiting friends, maybe here in the states. Wish I could have seen you for Seventh Tree! and all the rest! I’m in Cleveland… So maybe Chicago!
All good wishes and lots of love.

You say the album will be different? Lets hope Goldfrapp don’t becme a jack of all trades master of none with all these left turns album after album, it’s getting tiresome. I want quintessential Goldfrapp back; dark, vulerable, unsettling, unconventional, estranged.
Don’t know if you saw the Jeff Koon exhibition, it was good. Found his technique more intriguing than the actual subject matter. The pantings with the hotpants were something special.
Listening to Hold Still by Grizzly Bear, brilliant album, much better than the bloody Fleet Foxes.
Haha fuck knows why I write here, it’s not as if you read them.

Hi, Alison:
Your blog, like your music, brings me enormous joy.
I wonder if you have read any of William Gibson’s science fiction. He’s the fellow from whose writing the film, “Johnny Mnemonic,” was adapted.
Anyhow, an idea that shows up a lot in his writing is that of some people being so interesting that they sell access to their glamorous lives. In Gibson’s world, minds are directly tapped into something like the Web, so that folk can broadcast their perceptions, and other people can pay to receive their feed. Gibson’s writing included these ideas in the ’80’s, before or at the time the Web was being invented, and long before blogging or reality television appeared.
Well, you’re like one of those folk he envisioned whose life and art is so fascinating that your blog lifts me out of mine for awhile.
Like your magnificent music does too. I’ll never forget hearing your amazing voice for the first time. And I cannot listen to your music without feeling profoundly moved.
Thanks!

Wow — talk about psycho-sexual fans! It makes me feel not so unique anymore… just kidding and I just know that I’m going to love ur new album, if not because of anything else then definitely because of ur voice which is amazing! I should probably be commenting on the last blog u posted (but since I’m here already, well… I blame my laziness on my sign; lovely Aquarius!) No matter what I’m going to buy it and take care of it (unlike most of my other cds — my Alanis Morissette’s Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie won’t play except for “One” — good thing I have it digitally, as well) Anyways, got to go; can’t wait for the new album and much love from me and hey I have a friend named David, too!
